Book 3 of Daughter's of Fortune. In the summer of 1942, on three different continents, the daughters of newspaper tycoon Keagan Hayes are caught in chaos within and without. Though all have come to a personal faith, they are thrown into physical and emotional trauma that severely tests that faith. In Los Angeles, Jackie's Japanese-American husband is sent to an internment camp. In the Philippines, Blair is captured by the Japanese and imprisoned. In Russia, Cameron is arrested and forced to leave the country. 5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Book!, February 2, 2004
I have gotta say I loved the entire Daughters of Fortune series. This one has a much sadder tone to it than the other 2 books but it's still great. The only thing I hate is that I have to wait until Spring of 2005 for the next one to come out! I don't think I can take the suspense! The book shows a great deal of the characters reflecting on all the the events that happened during the war. From Blair's fight for survival in the Phillipines, Cameron's dilemmas with the Soviet government and her Russian doctor, and Jackie's struggles against racism because of her Japanese husband. I loved this book so much!I would recommend it to anyone who loves books about World War II.

5.0 out of 5 stars Third book in a great series, February 29, 2004

"Towards the Sunrise" is the third book in the "Daughters of Fortune" series by Judith Pella, and this was Great! This book focus on the youngest of Keagan Hayes daughters Jackie, and her struggles in her marriage of Japanese-American during World War 2. This is not to say that sisters Cameron and Blair stories are left alone. Ms. Pella still does an excellent job in showing their lives and their discovery of religion. This book is a great read for anyone who enjoys book that are set during war-time or any fan of Ms. Pella.

5.0 out of 5 stars Toward heartbreak, trials, and pain with hope on the horizon, June 15, 2006

This review is from: Toward the Sunrise (Daughters of Fortune, Book 3) (Paperback)
Jacki moves into the American version of a kinder, friendlier concentration camp to be with her husband. They share some months of their lives together. But Sam feels he must prove he's loyal to America. So what does he do? - Signs right up for the Army...
Cameron's still chasing news, a certain Russian doctor, a dangerous secret of her mother, and discovering more and more of her baby faith. She finally catches up with that elusive doc BTW.
Blair gets to spend some time in a restful place with a few different kindhearted families, but malaria and the outdoors life seem to want to break her. She finally meets up with Gary and they have a few months of life together, even if it is in the middle of a jungle being chased by death every which way. But then Blair's captured by the Japanese and all hope seems lost. Blair's always been the delicate one, but she's going to have to find strength within and without to make it through this trial.
