4.0 out of 5 stars Toward The Terra - An underrated classic Anime., March 9, 2009
This review is from: Toward the Terra Movie (Remastered) (DVD)
I feel the first thing I should say about this release is that it will most definitely not be everyone's cup of tea. What I mean by that is first of all this is a Sub Only release. Meaning the only audio is in Japanese with English subtitles. Secondly, this is a "classic" anime movie made back in 1980. With a much different art style that more modern animation fans may not know or appreciate. And finally this movie runs at around 1 hour and 51 minutes. Now if you do not mind old school beautifully remastered hand drawn animation, Subtitles, or a long storyline then may I say definitely give this anime from Nozomi a viewing.

I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys good Sci-fi, Classic Anime, or epic Space Opera about humanity and it's struggle to survive.

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic Animated Film that carries a poignant message through it's epic narrative., March 5, 2010

This review is from: Toward the Terra Movie (Remastered) (DVD)
Towards the Terra is one of the all time classics of Japanese animated film. The narrative is a poignant tail that is as relevant as it is timeless. The animation is of an older style that has softer colors and more of an artistic feel. The over all style is much more dramatic and cinematic then most modern japanese animation. Details are every where and the amount of care that was put into the emotional development of the characters is masterful.
The author of this story is a woman named Keiko Takemiya. The original manga written and drawn by Keiko Takemiya, is of epic proportions, and this OVA follows the 3 volume set wonderfully. This is an adult story that works through fantastic story telling, great music and gravitating voice-acting performances. Personally, I love the art and feel it is a completely progressive style.
This is a must-see for any ardent fan of intellectual Science Fiction and Japanese animation.

2.0 out of 5 stars Really old Anime and no Engish voices, January 8, 2009
This review is from: Toward the Terra Movie (Remastered) (DVD)
This was a pretty lame Anime A-la Macross. The story line is ok, but if you can get passed the subtitles then your a-ok. The Jap voices are really annoying. I only recommend this if your a Hardcore Anime/Manga Lover, "Otaku"!!!
