5.0 out of 5 stars Towel Monkey book Review
We just got back from a cruise in Alaska. Every day the Steward left a wonderful towel animal somewhere in the room! When we got back, I missed that! I figured, surely someone does an instructional book on how to do this yourself? Yep!!

I bought the book and the towels and started, figuring some of these would be complex! NOT SO! I was really impressed,...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good insructions, but the book looks homemade - not good to give as a gift
Looking back at the description I see "Spiral Bound" in the title, and if I look closer I see the book dimensions are 8.5 x 5 inches. I wish I had looked at this before purchasing. The book looks like someone took it to a copy center and made it. It is SMALL - not a full size book. It is spiral bound. The pages look like glossy photocopies. Yes, the instructions are...

5.0 out of 5 stars Towel Monkey book Review, September 25, 2006

We just got back from a cruise in Alaska. Every day the Steward left a wonderful towel animal somewhere in the room! When we got back, I missed that! I figured, surely someone does an instructional book on how to do this yourself? Yep!!

I bought the book and the towels and started, figuring some of these would be complex! NOT SO! I was really impressed, as, the instructions and the pictures were really helpful! All the animals are easy to make AND my inexperienced attempts led to animals that looked JUST like the pictures!

It is so easy, even my husband can do it! Making towel animals is the perfect welcome in any room for guests and to keep children occupied!!

This is a great book for anyone wishing to reproduce the amusing towel creatures that decorated their cabins on their last cruise. I really appreciate that every creature could be made with 1 bath towel, 1 hand towel and 1 wash cloth. Unlike other books, these creatures do not need pins or tape to hold them into shape.

Towel animals are a feature of cruise ships that my family looks forward to each evening when we return to our cabin. This book provides excellent step-by-step instructions on how we can make the animals ourselves. The instructions were so easy to follow that my grandson (age 7) was able to make some animals. If you want to know how the cruise ship stewards make the animals, this is the book for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Greatest romantic idea, May 13, 2007
This review is from: How to Make a Towel Monkey and other Cruise Ship Favorites (Spiral-bound)
I picked this up to surprise my wife every morning ! Makes her feel like she's on holidays every day. She looks forward to jumping in the shower every day just to see what critter awaits her that day. Only reason I rated a little lower was due to the fact the illustrations are a bit vague. But a great book just the same.

The book looks like someone took it to a copy center and made it. It is SMALL - not a full size book. It is spiral bound. The pages look like glossy photocopies. Yes, the instructions are clear. If you are getting it for yourself as instructions it would be suitable. I got it hoping to wrap it up as a gift for a family member who just got back from a cruise, but after receiving it I realize it's a bit too "cheap" looking to make a nice gift.

Pictures are clear enough to follow. The written directions are also good, easy to follow.
This is the way the Kindle Books for PC should be made; readable and usable especially if they are craft books.
The price is also a very good price.
Thank you for making this book so affordable.
I would love to see the other Towel Origami books on Kindle for PC in the future.
I would buy all of them if they are this decent.
Good job.

3.0 out of 5 stars NOT ENOUGH FOR THE BUCKS!, June 28, 2008
This review is from: How to Make a Towel Monkey and other Cruise Ship Favorites (Spiral-bound)
I think this book was written in a decent fashion. I bought it as a gift for my sister before we went on our Alaskan cruise. The directions and visuals were pretty good. However, the "book" does look like it was hand-made and it definitely wasn't worth the money. This "book" cost WAY too much. It wasn't worth it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Throwing in the towel, May 29, 2007

I agree with other reviewers about the homemade quality of the book. The book itself was VERY thin and not what I expected for the $14+ spent on it. It's NOT the worst book on towel origami but not the best either. I'd place it somewhere in the middle. The author does explain things well so I have to give her some credit for that. Think the main disappointment was the thin and homemade quality of it. Wasn't the best first impression when I opened the box. I still find learning towel origami by the DVDs on the market the easier way to go. Looking at photos or illustrations in a book with a lot of text doesn't do it for me when learning the visual art of towel origami. I need to see it in action.
