A Disappointment - Don't Waste Your Time!, December 17, 2002
This review is from: The Two Towers 2003 Calendar (The Lord of the Rings) (Calendar)
I too was really disappointed in the calendar. I refused to order it sight unseen so I waited until it came out in stores. Apparently the manufacturers knew that it was going to be a disappointment so they waited until the last possible minute to release the calendars as they just hit the stores in November. I was very glad that I did not waste my time or money on it. I have a beautiful poster wall calendar from the Fellowship of the Ring so I waited to see if one was going to come out for The Two Towers for 2003. I was not disappointed. New Line has come out with 2 new calendars (besides this one) that are much better: a die-cut calendar that is available at ...stores (I had to ask for it as they keep them behind the counter) and at select websites and a beautiful poster wall calendar that is available at lordoftherings.net through Newline Cinemas. My favorite is the poster wall calendar because each picture is like a poster with a small calendar on the bottom so you could keep and frame them if you would like. If you are a fan - don't waste your time on this one, buy one of the other ones available!

Not what I expected, November 29, 2002
This review is from: The Two Towers 2003 Calendar (The Lord of the Rings) (Calendar)
The image shown above isn't on the calendar. That was the first hint I had that this wouldn't be what I expected. The calendar shows no events from the movie. In fact, it looks like the film producers censored the calendar so it wouldn't reveal anything.
Here's what you do get:
King Theoden with a group of refugees
Merry and Pippin looking alarmed (probably captured by orcs, but you don't see any)
Aragorn standing amidst some horses
Sauruman in Orthanc, with Wormtongue looking slimy
Gandalf all in white (probably on Shadowfax, but you don't see him)
Faramir looking concerned about whether we'll like him
Gimli looking like he doesn't care if we like him or not
An extremely ugly orc, looking like he's been split down the middle by a sword (I can't wait to stare at THAT for a month!)
Eowyn looking pensive
An army in cool spiked armor standing around doing nothing
Legolas riding through the middle of some orcs (for some reason he seems to be ignoring them)
Frodo being grabbed by Faramir's men
As if the subject matter wasn't disappointing enough, some of the pictures have a faded look, as if they've been left out in the sun too long.
I'm as big a Lord of the Rings fan as anyone and I'm sending mine back. Save yourself the time and trouble.

Great Calendar!, January 2, 2003

This calendar is just what I was expecting. You don't need the picture on the front to be in the actual calendar because you already have it on the front. They have pictures of all the characters I wanted and every month has a new picture. I am very happy with it.
