Book Description

When Abby Lawrence shows a house to Ambrose Slater, she's unable to resist the handsome, sensitive hybrid-vampire, who is a powerful mortal. As she witnesses the deterioration of his brother’s marriage to a regular woman, Abby must decide if she can embrace the vampire lifestyle or give up the only man she’s ever loved. Ambrose must choose whether to risk losing Abby’s love or setting her free, even if it kills him…

Can a vampire baker and a spunky realtor make their relationship work? Or will their quirky families and the odds against them doom their love affair?

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Dear Reader,
In my Blood & Company Romance Series, you'll find no werewolves, shape-shifters, angels, demons, or violence.  The fanged characters are vampire-human hybrids searching for love and acceptance while attempting to fit into modern-day society.  If you like stories about families, friends, and the pursuit of true love, you might enjoy these books.
Note: Can be read as a stand-alone novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything a novel should be. April 4, 2015
By JH
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Kudos to Ms. Williams for doing such a stellar job of creating a new vampire myth … one so completely plausible and easy for this reader to accept that I found myself wondering if perhaps Ms. Williams has inside knowledge. (Could it be she’s got it right?) The heart and soul of this novel, though, are bound up in the relationships amongst friends, family members, and lovers. Not many books have coaxed tears from my eyes and brought a lump to my throat, yet Old Town Nights did just that. The characters and their emotional lives became viscerally alive to me. Such is the power of Ms. Williams’ prose. I highly recommend this book. It is intensely romantic, perceptive, touching, and entertaining. Everything a novel should be. Needless to say, I look forward to reading the rest of this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a wonderful new vampire series! September 28, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a wonderful new vampire series!
In the past (think Dracula) the vampire saw a girl he wanted, so he bit her, and carried her away with him. He could use his mental powers to make her do anything he wanted, whether she wanted to or not. After being bitten, she was addicted to him, and had to be with him. Times have changed, and that's no longer acceptable. If he bites her today, will she ever know if she really loves him, or if it is just the addiction talking? That would be enough to stress any relationship, but especially if one person is a vampire, and one human.

The vampires here are hybrids. They can go out in the day, but burn easily, and their eyes are very sensitive. They live in Chicago, which is far enough north that the sun's rays are manageable. The only way they can reproduce is with a human. And the child is born a baby vampire. Two vampires together can't produce a child. Once they find their chosen mate, and bite them, they usually marry, because they are bonded, and addicted to each other. If something were to happen to one, it is very difficult on the other, especially the vampire, who needs their blood to survive. So you want a good relationship, not one where the human feels forced into it, with no escape.

Ambrose & Abby are the lead characters. His brother bit his girlfriend without telling her what would happen, so now she feels trapped and unhappy in their marriage. Ambrose loves Abby, and decides to follow his brother's example by biting her without telling her. After he does, things are going downhill with his brother's marriage, and he doesn't want to put Abby through the same thing. He feels very guilty for biting her without giving her the choice. Can they make their relationship work?

5.0 out of 5 stars An unforgettable book! Must read! August 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I have one word for this book...unforgettable. Old Town Nights is unlike any vampire romance I've encountered. Abby and Ambrose are such remarkable characters that you cannot help but adore them. The family dynamics in this story add a refreshing touch of normalcy. This book will make you question the way a paranormal romance should read. Linda Lee Williams' approach to the genre is touching and incredibly compelling.

Abby is a realtor with a pretty unsatisfying life until she meets Ambrose, who harbors his own hunger for her. Williams immersed me, as a reader, so fully into the story that I couldn't climb my way out. She made me care about the characters. I'll say it again. This book is completely unforgettable. You just have to read it!

Loved it!! Although to be honest. I had stopped reading the book because I feared that I wouldn't like the ending. I finished it. And then I was ready for the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old Town Nights July 25, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really liked this story. I thought the characters of Abby and Ambrose were both very believable. Ambrose was so tormented by his affliction that I felt very sympathetic towards him despite the fact that he deceived Abby. Abby's choices were also difficult. I don't want to give too much of the story away, but I am glad that these characters worked out their differences and made a life together. I can't wait to read the next Blood & Company book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fantastic! June 13, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is by far the best vampire story I have ever read. I see that in other reviews many have said that the characters are unforgettable. That is so true. Williams has made the vampires so appealing and easy to love that I wish I had one for myself. Ambrose Slater is handsome, kind, loving, and romantic, but he is also a vampire. He falls madly in love with Abbey Lawrence, and as a couple, they make a beautiful pair. She is accepted into the entire Slater family of vampires, and everything seems perfect. Perfect--except they are vampires. Does that matter? This is such a wonderful read and I wanted it to go on and on. I loved it! Williams is a terrific writer. Can't wait to start "Sisters of the Night."

I received this ARC for an honest review.

This story of vampires has a new spin. What you knew about vampires is no longer valid....in a good way. The characters use and play with your emotions. Everything you believed about vampires and the mates is changed forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Addictive! August 11, 2013
By Marty
Format:Kindle Edition
BEWARE! "Old Town Nights" is habit forming. I admit to being enthusiastically (and impatiently) awaiting Book 2 of this 4-part hybrid-vampire series.

I loved this book! Linda Lee Williams is a consummate storyteller. Highly imaginative, she is fearless in her choice of plots. The storyline for OTN is unique and non formulaic. It has one foot in the vampire genre and the other squarely in contemporary romance. The Slater family of vampires are "hybrids," human in every way except for an extra pair of teeth and a few perks. Vampirism is integral to the plot, but at its heart, it is a love story. The setting is Old Town, Chicago, where you expect the unusual. The characters have depth and are believable. The near fatal attraction of Ambrose Slater (a gentle vampire with a conscience), for Abby Lawrence (a spunky, human, redheaded realtor) ignites the conflict. His uncharacteristic action in Chapter 1 wracks him with guilt and seals his fate. As with Abby, the reader will find the colorful, multi-generational Slater family irresistible.

If I had my way, the entire series would be available today, so I could read the story consecutively like a "mini series." Hurry up, Linda. I need my fix!
