A Incredible, Concise Resource on How to Make Places,

This review is from: Towns and Town-Making Principles (Paperback)
Another reviewer says this book should be read by every city planner and commissioner. I would absolutely agree. I would also that this should be THE textbook for any class on new urbanism, and urbanism in general as long as you're not taking about massive cities. This book goes into a lot of detail with examples of form-based codes, and many, very solid drawings where you can the design guidelines play out to create not just spaces but PLACES. DPZ are genious. But it's not just DPZ, this is a great BOOK. It's not redundant, or wordy. The information is very concise and you don't waste time flipping through hundreds of pages of text.

gov't decision makers need this book,
By K Harrison (Columbus, Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Towns and Town-Making Principles (Paperback)
This book should be read by every county commissioner and township trustee not to mention mayor & govenor. THESE are the majority of the decision makers out in the hinterlands and many are volunteers who have little or no knowledge of the impact their decisions will have on generations to come. This book is a valuable tool and blueprint to making better land planning decisions and encouraging the best kind of development possible - all by way of models.
