Cute but a little disapponted,
This review is from: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (Toy)
My son just got this for his birthday. He loves it but I am disappointed. The slide comes off too easy, the door comes off too easy, and it doesn't even play the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme song. For a Disney product, and one that cost $40, I expected alot more.

Great toy even with flaws,

Let me start off by saying that my 2 year old daughter loves this toy. There are a few issues in terms of build quality but nothing some super glue for plastic modeling didn't fix. I simply super glued the slide in place and it hasn't come off since. Use Super Glue found in the models section of the toy department at Wal-Mart. I also think that many reviewrs here have unrealistic expectations - it's a toy, NOT Mickey's actual Clubouse - lol. When you see how nicely the figures move and talk and the overall look of the toy it's well worth the money. All the figures are well made and work fine on the bases they come with and especially in the base for the clubhouse. Even my 6 year old son plays with my daughter and gets a kick out of switching the characters around. It sparks the child's imagination for role playing based on the show and looks just like the clunhouse which they love. Could the build quality have been a bit better with the slide? Sure. The door to the foot could have been a tad bigger but again it's not a scale model - it's a toy. I'm getting one for my three year old niece - with the super glue as the first accessory.

Ok some of the other reviews are on the money. The slide does come off easily as well as the shoe and the door to the shoe. This means that my child constanly is handing it to me to put the door back on the shoe and the slide back on the clubhouse. Despite this I can't say that the toy should be thrown out alltogether. My 2 year old daughter absolutely loves the show and absolutely loves this toy. It was the only toy she would look at for two days. She carries it all over the house.
The box is a bit deceiving as it has a picture of a pluto figure that you think comes with it but it doesn't. The only figures represented are Mickey, Toodles, and the clubhouse helping hand (they could have kept the hand and thrown in a pluto in my opinion). The rear portion of the clubhouse has a hole in the floor that the animated base can fit into. When you put mickey on the base he says a couple of sayings and the mouse ka dooer lights up (those that have a child that watch this show should know exactly what a mouse ka dooer is). The mouse face opens open to reveal a secret compartment (which also pops off rather easily but I think they're designed this way). The extra figures are rather scarce in toy stores but I was able to find them on e-bay and Amazon. It does fold up for on the go travel but the slide and the shoe are too large to fit inside. Definately get extra figures for added fun. The extra figures come with different bases that fit into the floor of the clubhouse and they say different things. All in all it isn't a perfect toy but my daughter would give it 5 stars so I can't complain too much.

Mickey's Clubhouse ROCKS!,

Mickey's Talking Clubhouse and the related figures, counting car, and phone seem to be harder to come by than TMX Elmo. My child loves to play with his set. The figures are compatible with the Mickey's Talking Clubhouse and The Counting Car. If you plan on getting either of these toys, then you really need all the accompanying figures also, or they get a little boring.
The age rating says ages 2+. My child is 3 years old and it fits his developmental level nicely.

Fun but built terribly!!,

For the 2006 holiday season, this toy is sold out everywhere!! My inlaws paid $100 for a new one on ebay because my nephew really wanted it for hannukah. In the picture you will see the two parts that stick out from the sides - the blue slide and the yellow thing on the other side. There is a slot to connect them but they neither slide in nor click in. You have to shove them in and they snap back out as soon as you touch them. We solved the slide problem with the crazy glue but the other side did not stay even with crazy glue because the surfaces are not level. Also, the direcs are terrible - does not address the assembly or how to use the figures to make all the talking figures happen. There are decal stickers to affix to different areas and they don't even give a map of where to put them. You have to look at the pic on the box to figure it out (and there is one sticker we still haven't figured out yet). For the $40 retail price, it should be made better and should not need crazy glue, especially since it is designed mainly for preschoolers (the $100 my inlaws paid was a huge waste). All in all, once you get it together and figure out how to use the pieces, it's pretty fun. They are out of this item everywhere, hopefull when they produce more, they will fix the assembly issue!

A piece of crap that your kid will love, but....,
By
This review is from: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (Toy)
My two year old got this two days ago and absolutely loves it beyond words. Like the other reviews mentioned, this is a truly a poorly built piece of crap that doesn't do much. I guess that is what imaginations were made for! Think about it--when you buy the clubhouse and all of the figurines this is an $80 toy (not to mention shipping for the 5 components separately) for a house that the attachments don't fit to. It is fairly obvious from the packaging (a plain white box with a taped on sticker on just one side of the box) that this was rushed to market due to the popularity of the tv show. The slide and door don't attach, the instructions are worthless, and the stickers are horrible, especially the round one that is supposed to fit the curve up top on the mouse ears. Have you ever tried to put a flat sticker on a round surface? I suggest you cut this one in notches toward the center so you can neatly overlay it so it will fit the dome on the curve better. If you cannot find the figurines and do not want to pay outrageous secondary market prices while you are waiting for the retailers to restock, go to any Disney store and buy the Mickey Mouse Bath Toys set that includes Mickey, Donald, Minnie and Goofy, which is $9.50 for the entire set of 4. They don't talk and a couple of them don't stand well, but they are cute, about the right size, and better than nothing while your child is patiently waiting for the talking figurines. Please don't buy from this Amazon seller. It really irritates me that Amazon doesn't police it's retailers and allows them to charge more than double the suggested retail price of a product. Shame on them and good luck! For as bad as it is, I would absolutely buy this again because my kid loves it.

Very Unpleased!!!,

I have to agree with the other reviews, if only I had read them before I purchased this house. This house is poorly made, it truly was a waste of money. I had to pay 60 bucks for this thing, and nothing stays attached like the pretty picture on the front of the box. It really is pointless too, it doesn't do anything. For this newly restructured program to have been such a hit, I would have thought their toys would have been great. Think twice before you purchase!!!

Poor quality overrides playability,
By
This review is from: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (Toy)
As the others have mentioned, the quality of this toy is very poor. The slide does not stay attached and neither does the yellow boot/door. The rear observatory also falls off and when it's opened, is not level and the characters slide off. It's a shame that it has so many problems, because it has the potential to be a really cute toy. I'm so glad I didn not pay more than the $40 retail price. Disney missed the mark on this one.

mixed review - but not great,

Ok - if my kids were giving the review ... they would probably give it 4 stars. My 2 & 4 year old love this toy. They watch Mickey's Clubhouse all the time and love it. Diego & Dora come to visit the clubhouse all the time.
As a parent, it is not worth the price. It should be closer to $20 or 30. The slide & the shoe are attachments that never stay on. Although it is bigger than I thought it would be ( 1-1/2' high and 1' wide), there isn't much you can do with it. Fisher Price playsets are more intersting. The only character that comes with the set is Mickey Mouse ... there needs to be more characters. In conclusion, if your child REALLY loves Mickey's Clubhouse on tv AND you can find a good deal somewhere .... that is the only reason to purchase this toy. Otherwise it is a dissappointment.

It is a cute and fun toy. My girls are 3 and 5.5 and they have enjoyed it since we opened it up for them (just today). My only complaints are that the yellow door/entrance and blue slide DO NOT stay attached. That is annoying.
But otherwise it is a fun and cute toy. |
