From Children's Software Revue® -- "Subscribe Now!"

Kids help heroic Buzz Lightyear rescue Woody from the nasty toy collector in this Game Boy arcade game. There are 10 scenes or levels to get Buzz through, each with its own obstacles and power sources. Although the game play essentially comes down to the relatively brainless activity of trying to earn points by flying through coins, batteries and air blasts, there's also a fair amount of novelty built in. In one scene, Buzz rides Bullseye the Horse to hop aboard a plane. In another scene, Buzz goes up an elevator to get to Al's apartment. You won't find any violence or worrisome content- Buzz only uses his laser gun to slow down Rex and other critters- and while testers struggled at times, on the whole, they were enthusiastic.

Product Description

Disney's computer-animated film comes to the Game Boy Color in TOY STORY 2. Following the plot of the movie, a toy collector has kidnapped Woody, and it is up to Buzz Lightyear to rescue him. You control Buzz as he works his way through eight action-packed levels. In addition to running and jumping, Buzz can fly (or "fall with style" as he puts it) after using something to launch himself off of a ramp. As you would expect, there are plenty of bad guys who don't want him to succeed but Buzz can get rid of them with a blast from his wrist laser. In each stage, Buzz must collect keys, batteries, and other power-ups to advance to the next stage. If he collects all of the coins in a level, a bonus stage is unlocked. Help Buzz rescue Woody in TOY STORY 2.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun game for small children!, January 25, 2001

My 5 year old has this game...he loves it. It's perfect for him. There are a lot of games out there that are too hard for a kid his age, but Toy Story 2 is great! If you have a young child, this game is perfect! But for the older ones...it may be just a bit too easy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Another sub par game with popular characters., April 6, 2000

This review is from: Toy Story 2 (Game Cartridge)
Toy Story 2 could have been great. Toy Story 1 on Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis were excellent. Toy Story 2 is not. The graphics are somewhat detailed but kind of blurry. That's ok because gameplay makes a great game not graphics. The gameplay is where everything goes wrong. You see, the run and jump buttons are both the same button meaning you have to hold down the button to run but if you let go Buzz jumps. This will cause you to loose many lives very easily and get you fusturated. If you want a good platform game for Gameboy Color, Tarzan is much better with better graphics, control and a unique hide and go seek mode as well as the ability to use the Game Boy Printer to print out Tarzan Stickers.
