2.0 out of 5 stars This is a weak game at an insane price point. November 11, 2012

We purchased this game to commemorate our enjoyment of the equivalent ride at Walt Disney World in Orlando. We knew it wouldn't live up to the ride of course and we expected to be kind of over the game quickly. But not nearly as quickly as we were.

First, the good. Disney/Pixar seems to have spent as much effort animating this game as they did the ride and from a programming standpoint I'm sure the myriad scoring combinations were very difficult to work out so this was probably not a cheap game to produce. Also, if you're a newbie with the controller you'll get good at moving the little target quickly which can translate into success in other games.

However, 90% of the games are the same game. Propel balls/hoops/pies/whatever at targets/aliens/critters/whatever and score points. Certain targets and combinations of targets release another set of higher-value targets. Oh and pies come at you which you "dodge" by leaning left or right. At the end of each game there's usually a "frantic round" in which you can score a ton of points quickly with little effort -- a great opportunity for adults to let the kids catch up. To an adult this quickly gets boring. Much more quickly than I anticipated. I guess if you're fascinated by figuring out how the programmers set up the various scoring opportunities you might enjoy that but I suspect for most people this game is going to be a very expensive video ring toss.

The Kinect feature of this game was all but impossible for us to use and was boring in any event. All it does is allow you to hold your hands in front of you pretending to hold a launcher and steer it with your hands instead of the left stick of the controller. We found that tiny hand movements led to very large movements of the target indicator.

The opening portion of this game was EXTREMELY difficult for the age group that it appeals to. I almost turned it off and gave up on it when my son and I couldn't get passed the beginning stage of the game. After we realized that we could bypass the beginning portion, this turned out to be one of the best games that I have found for kids. I have a five-year-old and seven-year-old, and they both love playing this. I believe that this is where Disney got the idea for Disney Infinity. The world is fairly free roaming, with side quests (that you don't have to complete, but can if you like) and optional gameplay features. My son particularly likes using the big/small ooze to super-size Bullseye and blow through the town. Very age-appropriate and definitely worth checking out!

4.0 out of 5 stars Family Fun January 9, 2013
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
We had previously had the Wii version, but we are now an XBOX family and we were excited to play the game with Kinect. My 6yo Daughter Loves it and the adults have a blast too. The Kinect controls took about 15 mins to really get down but once we understood all the motions (it is really just a small set of motions repeated), it was really easy and fun. Add in the additional levels not on the Wii and things like Pies flying at you and you have everyone playing hopping and jumping around and having a great time. Without a doubt this is one of our new favorite games and should be for anyone who loves Toy Story Mania!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun game first time with the kinect November 27, 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
It's a great game first time with the Kinect. Getting used to the no control aspect of it, which made it a little harder. Some of the motion need doesn't really go with the game for example; shooting darts at balloons requires holding an imaginary steering wheel. But it's a fun game.

kinnect follows my 3 1/2yr old well. The screams and hidding from the flying pies are worth the price of the game.
Great if you have played the game at Disneyland

5.0 out of 5 stars okay, I stink at xbox but I love and can play this game February 3, 2013
Platform for Display:Xbox 360|Verified Purchase
I love the toy story ride at Disney Studios and enjoy the iphone/itouch game. The xbox game is fun as well. It is hard for my nephew who just wants to shoot stuff up - particularly zombies and opposing forces, but even he gets into it when challenged.
