Every time I walk past this garden, I rake it and spend a moment or two remembering why I bought it. It's a great meditation aid. The sand is very fine and should not be used on top of fine furniture. If you try to wipe it up, it will act as sandpaper.

Unlike most zen gardens that are in small wooden boxes, this dish is whole and one piece. It's heavy (not too heavy) and has small soft "feet" on the bottom that are a little "grippy" so it doesn't slide. It has a green tint to it that I didn't expect, but its fine with me. I'm not very good at making any designs in it, but I do love to scrape along! I HIGHLY recommend this zen garden over others for its uniqueness, round shape, one piece design. It's beautifully packaged if you want to give it as a gift and comes with a book. To be honest, I tossed the book in a drawer and started playing with the sand!

This zen garden is fantastic.
It's hard to believe I only paid around $13 for it. The ceramic oval tray is so pretty, it's a great size for a tabletop or desktop. The color and finish on it are pretty. The rake is very nice also, I was afraid it may look thin/crappy but it's handsome. The sand is very, very fine. My only complaint is the stones are pretty small. I added several river rocks that I already have; that's a cheap fix and something you can pick up at a craft store. Great item!
