5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Awesome Awesome according to my 2 boys (3&4yrs old)
I purchased this toy (11/12/05) for my sons 3rd b-day and he and his brother play with it non stop. This toy does require assembly as stated in other reviews, however this does not deter from their play. My 5 year old son bought this toy with his birthday money. He loves Toy Story and was eager to have it. Based on the commercials he saw on TV, he expected to be able to use Buzz to imprison Zurg in the headquarters. Unfortunately, despite the prominent place Zurg has in the ads (and the fact that his picture appears on the toy box SIX times!), Zurg is not included. There is microscopic print advising as much on the box, which we didn't detect. Hasbro advises that they haved ceased manufacturing Zurg, so he's unavailable. My son is very disappointed, as am I. We feel duped on this one.

My 4-year old boy is just about Buzz Lightyear's biggest fan. He loves all of his Buzz toys, and when this product came out around Christmas it was just about all that he asked for. But after opening it, sure he tried to play with it for a couple of days, but it kept falling apart, and without Zurg the whole thing isn't much fun. Also, on the commercial's, they made it look like this toy was going to be huge, about the size of a 4-year old kid, so I cleared out a place in my boy's room and everything....after purchasing the toy and opening the box, it turns out to be about 8 inches tall. What a disappointment!!!

My son loves all things Toy Story. He enjoys playing with the toy, however it comes apart very easily. The parts unsnap with average play. No, they are not broken, but we frequently pause our game to put it back together. Also, like other reviewers my son is disappointed that Zurg is not part of the command center esp. since some of the automated commands mention Zurg. And, esp. since we can not purchase Zurg locally. I purchased this toy (11/12/05) for my sons 3rd b-day and he and his brother play with it non stop. This toy does require assembly as stated in other reviews, however this does not deter from their play. The "jail cell" seperates from the main base and attaches to the spaceship so Buzz can fly his prisoner around. The Headquarters has many interchangeable pieces so it can be assembly however your child wants. As for no Zorg figure, my kids could have cared less. I just found another small toy from their collection and they have fun arresting all their different toys.

This is a great interactive toy that requires a childs imaingation rather then pre programed play that electronic toys offer. I definatly recommend.

Like many of the reveiwers mentioned, there is no Zurg included in this set. My son bought this toy with some of his birthday money from Toys R Us. Before we even left the store I read on the box that Zurg is not included, so we searched the entire store for a small zurg to go with the center. None was found, since then we have went to Kmart and Target, no Zurg to be found. IF you buy this toy be aware that you may not ever find your villian.

I was reading all the reviews to figure out if this was a toy for my 4yr son. It was the only thing he asked for, for christmas. So I went to Toys r us thinking i wasn't not going to buy this toy cause there is no Zurg with or avaliable on amazon. We found a Zurg in the store. Yes you need to buy is seperately, no surprise that is life. So for every one who said they couldn't find it..no offence leave your pc and go look for it. Go to the store

5.0 out of 5 stars To Infinity and Beyond, August 14, 2007

Given the cavils against this toy, I still maintain this is a great playset. Correct, you don't get a Zurg figure. But you do get a very good Buzz figure who fits on a detachable space ship. This toy is expensive, but it's well-made. It also lights up and talks, and has lots of pieces you can attach various places that actually do things. There's a telescope that actually magnifies, a launcher that shoots a little missle, an elevator you can move up and down. It's a double sided playset for more value. There's a very odd jail cell with a trap door on top, a clear door to see in, and a stretchy door.

This playset is only about a foot high by eight inches wide, but the jail cell folds out to make it about fifteen inches wide. In the '80s, it seemed that every action figure line included a very large playset, such as G.I. Joe or He Man's Castle Grayskull. Everything got very small with MicroMachines and micro playsets, reflecting the fact that many people live in apartments which don't have much extra room, and also to make very portable playsets. This set is sort of a compromise. However, the current toy scene is very different from the '80s and '90s. Action figures are everywhere and are quite expensive. Most of the accompanying playsets are even more expensive and not well made. Many of the space themed sets are merely retreads of other adventure hero sets, pretending the cars and tanks are now "space" cars and tanks. Disney/ Pixar's Buzz Lightyear was a spaceman from the word go, and his playset reflects that.

Many recent playsets are also made of exploded, air-filled plastic, and completely lack any realism. The Interplanetary Headquarters is made of hard plastic. There are stickers you can apply, but even without them, it's very colorful. Having recently bought two other playsets which will remain unnamed, I find this set far better designed, and with far more thought for play value. It does seem an oversight that you don't get Zurg, but other than that this set seems to me to be quite well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buzz Lightyear HQ was a big hit for my son's b-day, June 30, 2006

I got this for my 5 year-old for his b'day. He has been a huge Buzz Lighyear fan since he was 2. He loves playing with this set! I know some reviews complained that the set does not come with a Zurg, but that is not a problem in our house. Over the years we have bought several Toy story figure sets so we already had some Zurg's for him to use. The only thing I cannot figure out is that is says Buzz's back has a hole where you can plug in a backpack (not included), but I don't know where you can get the backpack from. Overall a great toy for any Toy Story fan!
