1. The price of this manual is reasonable.
2. Some out-of-date information about procedures and parts.
3. Too technical which is not suitable for car owner (who has little knowledge about car) to do maintenance trouble-free.
4. Car owner could do approximately 25% out of 100% procedures of the whole manual. Please remember it depends on your car knowledge.
5. Haynes publisher do not care to respond their customer's e-mail and phone call for asking more information in the book as they promised to do so.

This manual is really junk. Although the title says its for a Lexus ES300, the manual almost in its entirely covers the Toyota Camry. Pics are also 99% of the Toyota Camry with none of it covering the Lexus. Trim on a Lexus vehicle are completely different from a Toyota, yet the manual only shows pic for Toyota Camry 4/6 cycl model. I will not recommend this manual if you own a Lexus but may recommend it only if you have a Toyota.

Good for me to learn some of the basics before going to the dealership for service and repair. Could be more detailed for some of the basics like getting the whole audio package off the car (I wanted to add a universal MP3 interface kit to it).

Not enough detail in this book. I wanted to replace the drivers side front wheel bearing and the manual indicated that I would need special tools and expertise required only of a professional shop. Well, I replaced it anyway. The book is too generic in other cases, too many pages of general automotive knowledge in this book. There are not enough illustrated parts diagrams (exploded views) nor are there any detailed schematics of most systems. I am upset that I wasted $25 on this book. I guess if you want the most generic information possible then this book is for you. I should have known better, I have bought Haynes manuals before and they were mostly a waste of money and this is proof that Haynes manuals still suck.

I own a 2003 Toyota Camry LE (4 cyl). I have found this repair manual to be an amazing reference.

Some people who reviewed this manual said that it seems to show more pictures and references to the Camry. I would agree with that statement. If you own an Avalon, Solara, or Lexus, I'm sure the manual still applies, but the pictures may not be as relevant to you. Just about every picture in the manual looked as if someone had taken pictures of my own car (my car's color is silver like the cover). There are a lot of electrical schematics and mechanical information that are very specific to make, model, and engine style.

As an electrical engineer, I have found that the electrical schematics are excellent references and are very detailed. The instructions for the electrical repairs are very informative and anyone could follow them.

There are only a few things I would like to see improved with the manual. This applies to all of Haynes repair manuals, not just this one. I would like to see the manuals have a better type of paper. The pages turn yellow rather quickly and look like they've been on the shelf for years. The black and white photos would be easier to see if they were printed at a higher quality or even in color. My Haynes Repair Manual for my old 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme suffers from the same problems.

Overall, I would recommend this manual.

Pretty much what I expected. Would be better if more photos were from the model I actually own (Solara) rather than a Camary.

This manual has been a great help for working on my '98 Avalon. The level of detail is excellent. Having this on hand, aviods the process of trial and error. Just a note, if you are changing a time belt, purchase or rent a crankshaft pulley bolt holder. This is not stated in the book. Enjoy!

This book is fine for most simple do-it-yourself repairs. Had a version for my last car and it helped fill in the gaps in the owner's manual. At the least, it gives you some guidance when you need to take the car in for some real repairs, helps to cut through the technician's gibberish.

Amazon: Local library refuses to accept the book you sent as replacement for theirs, claiming theirs was an 09 edition, superior to the earlier edition you sent me. Have you an 09 or later?

Great book in great condition. Some of the material is over my head, but if I tinker around long enough, I might get it.
