Everyone should get the repair manual for their car from Haynes or Chilton. These are great books that provide very detailed information for you to make most repairs.

I firmly believe it's a good idea to use this as a reference to at least learn to do basic maintenance. This book will end up saving you a lot of money and it will ensure that your car lasts for a long time. For the more experienced do-it-yourselfer, you already know what a great book this is for auto repair, so there's no need to convince you.

If not to do your own repair work, consider this to help you understand your car and better communicate with your mechanic.

We have other Haynes repair manuals and they are better than this one. This one covers too many models. We bought this because we wanted specific instructions on how to replace a part and this particular manual gave very general instructions. The other Haynes manuals have not been like this so we have been disappointed with this one. I would recommend going with another brand that is a little more specific to your model vehicle.

This manual has been helpful in the short time that I've had it. It doesn't have quite everything that I was hoping for, but it does have most of what I need and I'm glad to have it. I'm sure that I will use it on many occasions. Just a friendly note: Don't buy the Chilton manual AND the Haynes manual. They are both written and published by the same people and the manuals are almost, if not exactly, identical. I purchased both thinking that I might find that one had information the other did not. I was wrong and just wasted the money on the second book. Get one and you'll be happy.

This manual looked good. But in trying to remove a door panel the manual completely and utterly skipped the most difficult to intuit step, that of removing the interior door handle & lock cover. Not a WORD about its removal, and the cover snaps into place in a way that is nearly impossible to see until it's off. Once a screw is removed, the cover needs to be pried apart very carefully from the underlying plastic handle bracket. At this state, once the one screw is removed, there remain no visible screws, no visible latches, yet the cover will not come off (so the door panel will not come off) unless pried apart in a very specific way. Not a word or photo in the manual about this. The result was a broken internal part that will require a LOT of effort to obtain and replace.

This is not the first time that this Haynes manual has offered help, but provided poor explanations, lousy photos and inadequate guidance. Frankly, it's not worth having by my side. Either I can intuit the issues myself, or this piece of crap fails to help and I have to go online to get answers elsewhere. I wish that I'd saved my money. And I SURE wish that I hadn't relied on it for this most recent project. Having this manual (and thinking that I could rely on it) cost me money and time rather than saving me money and time.

If you can get it for a couple of bucks, fine. But be really careful with it, and I STRONGLY recommend cross-checking anything it says with other sources before starting any project.

Luckily I came across the reviews here and realized that they are not as detailed as i suspected. I found this store on the www for $9.95. It is a pdf version of the actual Toyota Factory Repair Manual that the toyota technicians use. I am able to search keywords in the pdf's. They are not scans but actual electronic copies and very detailed. Now i can replace the brakes and Idle Air Control valve with more confidence and detail. btw do not mistake me for the vendor trying to push his product. I am just a regular joe like yourself trying to contribute to the reviews (which I rarely do) and do not people like myself to get burned.

This book does not have the detail that my Chiltons have had for other vehicles I have owned. Had to go on-line to find out how to get my radio out of my Toyota Avalon.

I remember growing up with these books but have not seen them in a while. When I needed to work on my Camry again I was pleased to find it. The descriptions and the pictures are good. Sometimes you have to read it several times before tackling the job. You also need to jump around in the book at times which is fine.

this book was made for lower end models so the electrical harness diagram was a pain in the butt to understand since it was slightly different.

I would not recommend using this book to rewire the car radio.

-car has external amplifier
-radio is a unbalanced output to the external amplifier and not your typical balanced output (ex: from the radio only FL,FR,RL,RR not FL+,FL-,RL+,RL-,RR+,RR-). So to install an non OEM radio it either has to have a unbalanced output or if you buy one with a balanced output, you must open up the passenger side dash and hook up your speaker lines to the output of the external amplifier that is hooked to the speaker. it was a pain.

I was able to do simple things research using this book.
-oil change
-tire rotation
-stud change
-replacing headlights

my car is at 170,000 miles and still working great.

I have repair manuals for every automotive that I own.I was never a repairman in the pass but with the high coast of auto repair. I have become my own repairman with the help of haynes repair manuals. Thank you Amazon from Georgia.
