Product Description

From the Manufacturer

While the B-17s may have stolen the limelight, the Liberator, with nearly 20,000 made, did most of the heavy lifting. B-24s attacked targets far out of the range of other allied bombers. It could carry 4 tons of bombs over a range of 1,000 miles. The B-24 Liberator is a strategic heavy bomber type of an aircraft. It was manufactured by Consolidated Aircraft and designed by Isaac M. Laddon. Its maiden flight was on the 29th of December 1939 and was introduced commercially in 1941. It retired from service in 1945. Its primary users are the United States Army Air Force, United States Navy, and Royal Air Force. The B-24 holds the record for having the highest number of aircrafts produced in World War II and it still is until today. It was being compared to the Boeing B-17. The B-24 does have a more modern design than the B-17 and it has a higher speed, greater range and ceiling but both are similar in regard to their bomb loads and massive defensive armaments. The B-24J Liberator Silver Chief allows seven (7) to ten (10) flight crews.
