My umbrella came broken, so my review is a bit skewed. However, since there are no reviews and upon close inspection I think the cheap materials are a factor, I felt obliged to give a biased opinion. Because the Kidorable umbrellas received such terrible reviews I purchased this brand instead. I understand if you want to make a cheap umbrella small and light enough for a child, this is part of the inherent problem. But comparing it to my nephew's even cheaper Thomas the Train umbrellas from Target, I don't think this one would be able to stand up to the same bashing his receives and remain intact. Also the umbrella fabric is red with the black and orange printed on. The black came scratched off in places, which is from the shipping, but I'm sure it would only be a matter of time before my daughter brushed it against a tree when using it.
My daughter adored it until she realized it wouldn't open. It would have been fun and great for imaginative play rain or shine. The eyes really do pop out wonderfully, but the thin wire that keeps them up make me a little nervous. There are plastic tubes and a plastic guard for the lowest metal wires. I prefer kid umbrellas where you don't have to press your thumb on the metal tab(covered with a plastic guard for this umbrella) in order to open it. I've seen ones where you just push the middle part up or pull down without this extra thumb coordination. Inside the umbrella the seams aren't hemmed and the fabric ragged along the seams where the eyes are sown in. The back of the eyes are just white with no black eyeball. I may purchase a Melissa & Doug or iPlay umbrella instead.

My son has the same style child's umbrella that's a frog. He's had it 3 years and it's in perfect condition. So I ordered this ladybug umbrella for my daughter since it looked very similar to our frog one. Not only did it arrive broken (plastic on the bottom where you hold and open the umbrella was broken) but the quality was terrible compared to my son's umbrella. The way in which it opens is also not very effective as another person commented. I will be returning it but still wanted to post on the quality.

We purchased this umbrella when it was on sale. I was very worried as it does not have the greatest reviews. We live in WA state where it rains every day. I have not had any umbrella last me that long and already this one has been put to the test with rain and wind and it has fared well. The umbrella is very cute in person, even better then the picture. I can not say it is any better then the basic princess (dora spiderman etc) umbrellas or others that we have bought in the past but it definitely is at least as nice and more then likely a little better quality. I have bought $20 Gymboree umbrellas that have broken quickly so it is hard for me to state that any umbrella is made cheaply regardless of price. We will be using these umbrellas daily (we have 2 one for each kid) when it breaks I will update you on how long it lasted and compare it to previous ones we have purchased. So far we have used it approximately 10 times and it still looks, opens, and closes like it did on the 1st day so it has surpassed others since I have a 3 year old and 4 year old holding them.
