We purchased this toy for our 8 year old son. He loved it. Once the christmas festivities was over, this was the first toy he wanted to play with and construct. It took barely 15 minutes to work with him to put it together and then he played with it for days. It really got him asking questions about how it works, etc... and he even observed that with the cover it come with it projects light, but if you use a soda plastic bottle as the cover, it projects a brighter, larger light. It still has him asking questions, and he keeps it on his bed side as his emergency go to flashlight. Well-made and safe. A great purchase!

I bought this for my son to help teach him how energy can be created. He absolutely loved it and now plays with it all the time. He likes to sit in his room with the lights off and crank away at the handle. I would give this toy two thumbs WAY up!

We purchased this Green Science kit for our nine-year-old son for Christmas. He was able to put it together by himself and it has held up to the rough handling of a child. He is still just as fascinated with it and is constantly experimenting with ways to use the 'torch', including reading under the covers after lights out. We are so pleased with the product that we have ordered several different kits for his upcoming birthday.

I was sad that the whole thing wasn't a build. It was easy to put together, but I still wanted the knowledge for my son to see the inside "guts". When he is done with playing around with it, he is going to take it apart piece by piece and study it. I was also disappointed that one of the wire holes was missing. We had to just wrap the wire around the tab which got loose. Easy fix, though. Overall.. I would say I wish it was more educational from the start, instead of having to take it all apart to understand the concept. My son did say he hopes there is no battery that he is just triggering to make it light up.

I got this for my 8 year old nephew. I didn't get to see him put it together and play with it but I heard that he loved it. At first he was asking where the batteries were but when his dad explained that "he" was the battery he got super excited. He was amazed that he produced the energy to power the torch so I would say that this was a fun and educational toy.

Great stocking stuffer! My son loves building things and he also loves learning how things work. Adult supervision is needed when putting the things together.

I built this with my 3 year old daughter and we had a good time making it light up and going over how it works. The pieces are pretty flemsy and light plastic. I doubt it will last forever but for a few bucks you can't really expect it to be made out of titanium. Most kids play with something for a week and then it gets barried anyways so probably will last till the next time it is cool. I lvoe the series of science toys from this company and I'm planning on buying several to increase my childs imagination and desire to learn more about physics, ecology, and chemistry.

Thought the toy would be a bit more challenging to construct for my 11 yr old son. Also once constructed, the unit was somewhat difficult to move. Would be great project for younger person with parent.

I bought this as a chrismas present for another nephew of mine. It was fun for the ten minutes it took to build it. Now it is lost in some drawer. I found no educational value in this toy.

What a waste of money. I don't recommend buying this item.
