Well, not hard to build so much as instructions that are too complex. It's neat when it's done but the electronic parts are fragile. After five minutes of operation the wiring broke, no abuse of any kind. A real slog to put together and then my 8 year old was immediately disappointed when the parts failed

The robot was fun to put together. I thought that my son would have been able to participate in more of the process but the screws were so small and difficult to screw in that he could not. He did have fun seeing the finished product. Overall a good toy. He brought it in to school for his "make your own robot project" and it was a big hit!

Our kids loved making these robots, and put them together in an hour or less with a lot of help from their father. They were 4 and 6 years old when we got this kit and they were not able to make them on their own, even though they are quite proficient at building with litle LEGOS, et cetera. Just a word to the wise, that this project will probably require adult help or at the very least supervision for children who are under age nine or ten maybe?
I am looking at our boys' creations right now, which are proudly on display on the shelf above our computer desk, because they still love them and occasionally pay with them or try to rebuild them. we also took pictures of them for their home school blog, as they were so very proud of their first MOVING robots! Well worth the price.

I bought this as a Christmas present for our 12 year old grandson. My husband and grandson assembled this robot together. Although my grandson could not have done this project himself, it was a super fun project. All the parts were there nothing was missing. Well thought out by the designer. My grandson keeps it on his dresser at home, he said that he will show his children one day... the project that he and grandpa built together.

Kinda hard for 1st grader to build. Pretty fun but kid got bored of it because it only moves in 1 direction.

My son bought this while on vacation, he is 17 years old, he loved it! Does not play with it, it sits on a shelf as a decoration. Highly recommend as a project for an older 14 to 18 year old.

My four year old wanted "a robot that does something" for his 5th birthday, so we gave him this kit because he also loves to build and engineer things. He and his dad put it together and he loves it. All my older kids friends also love to watch it waddle it's way across our counter. Very fun.

My son and I put this robot together, and after all our work, it didn't work--the switch was bad. In addition, the screws are tiny and strip easily, and they must be tightened in order for the robot to work.
However, I e-mailed the company and they sent me a replacement switch. Unfortunately, it was the wrong part so they expedited a shipment of the entire kit. Overall, I appreciate a company that stands behind its products.

I bought this as an after school project for my son & I to build together and it was a big hit.
He loves his robot (he named him "Quest") and begs to play with him when he gets home from school. The directions were a little confusing (particularly regarding where to put the wires when attaching the battery casing), but we managed just fine.

We liked this little robot, he doesn't make a whole lot of noise like the bug one, and he moves with ease across the floor. You'll need a tiny screwdriver for assembly, and you may need to trim the straw arms.
