My 6 year old really wanted the Gourmet Cupcake Maker for Christmas this year. I would have gotten it for her, but hated seeing all the bad reviews and knew it would just become disappointing clutter. Well, one day we were in a bookstore and saw this set on display and she fell in love with it. We talked about the differences in the two sets, such as the fact that she would have to buy extra mixes to make more cupcakes with the Gourmet set, or she could use regular cake mix and frosting from mommy's pantry for this set. And she could make six mini cupcakes at a time, which she can share with her sisters, instead of just one big one. The deal breaker was the different icing tips she can use. My mother decorates cakes, and she was excited to be able to "make cupcakes like Grandma's". She scratched the Gourment Cupcake set off her list and added this set. We've already made mini cupcakes and mini muffins. One box of mix will make ton of minis and take forever, so we've done 3 batches in the mini tray (18 cupcakes), and then use our regular muffin pan to make 6 big ones. It works out great! The icing tube was easy for her to use, and we had lots of different sprinkles in our pantry to add to it. She had the best time! She loves to cook, so I'm going to look for more of these sets for her. I also like the fact that she can do more than just cupcakes with this set. We've made muffins, but she could also make little biscuits or rolls. There are a lot of possibilities with this little set.

We got this early this week and have been on a muffin/cupcake making spree! So far this little pan has baked 17 batches of yummies (we bought a regular mini muffin pan too since it was taking forever to bake and they were eaten before the next batch was done) DD (4) loves the decorating tools and we are currently trying out one of the recipies on the cards included. She now has her own kitchen drawer with her "cooking supplies"
A lot of fun and teaches measuring, bake time, and how to make treats!

Great idea, some of the components are very sturdy, such as the cupcake pan, the part that should be the most fun, especially for preschool girls, is the cupcake frosting squirter. Bake up some cupcakes with the neat pan, load up the frosting dispenser and you find that the lid that is supposed to screw on pops off with the slightest pressure, as an adult you can awkwardly grab it with both hands to force the lid to stay in place while squirting out some frosting, but as a little kid with small hands, this isimpossible. I have no idea why the lid to the forsting thing was not fully threaded, what a disappointment to what otherwise would have been a great idea.

My eight year old daughter wanted a different decorator toy for Christmas, but after reading reviews, I got this one. It's been great. Easy to put together and easy to use. It also seems pretty durable. We haven't tried all of the tips yet, but the ones we did use were good. Minimal mess (it is frosting after all!). No frustration after I figured out not to fill it all the way to the top. I am not a baker! We also used multiple mini muffin pans.

We haven't baked with the pans that come with the set, but she plays with them all the time. My 7, 5 and 3 yr old have all decorated with the "gun" however and we find it very kid-friendly and really does a good job. Much easier to use than my grown-up version!

The perfect little set for your budding baker! The recipes are easy and yummy too! My 6 yr. old, 8 yr. old and 10 yr. old were making filled cupcakes the first evening after they received these. When they were finished the cupcakes looked adorable and tasted delicious! They have made several batches now and keep asking to make more.

We bought this for our five year old for Christmas as an alternative to the gourmet cupcake maker that she wanted- that toy had terrible reviews and this set seemed to have everything she wanted. She loves it, is able to decorate cupcakes by herself once the icing gun is filled- great toy for kids!

Baking with grandaughter,

I gave this to my grandaughter for her 4th birthday last winter. We have had so much fun baking the various recipes together this year. She calls the colorful recipe cards "menus" and delights in studying them and ultimately choosing which "menu" we will bake next. Once baked, we discuss which recipe we like best! Yes baking in small sizes is a little labor intensive, but I remember so well baking minature things when I was a child and how special it was to me. I wouldn't trade the special time my grandaughter and I have shared baking together this past year for anything. I think this will be a memorable experience for her as well!

My four-year-old daughter is very excited about this recent gift. At an age when playing in the home center is a highlight in my daughter's day, this gift which can be used for real baking is perfect. I can hardly wait for the two of us to spend time together creating dreamy cupcakes and strengthening our bond as mother and daughter, as well as friends. This will be a great opportunity to purchase new, larger cupcake tins, to add on to this set, and teach her some baking basics.
