This review is from: Toysmith DIG & PLAY TREASURE ISLAND (Toy)
I recently purchased this game for my grandsons, ages 8 and 5, because they love anyting pirate. The description on the site sounded so neat and they would love to dig for buried treasure. What arrived was a "map" playing board and a block of plaster. In order to get the treasures, you have to scrape away the plaster. To begin the game, you even have to find the one dice that is supposed to be included, but it is also buried. I thought there was going to be a treasure chest as the picture depicts; however, that is also buried. The directions are not thorough but you will read numerous warnings about not inhaling the plaster dust, not get it on your hands, and not to ingest. This game is a waste of $15 and will end up on a shelf and most likely in the trash. For young children, who want action and fun, there is no way they are going to have the patience to be digging at this hard plaster just to begin the game. The recommended age on the box is 8 years old. Don't waste your money for a cardboard map and a hunk of plaster with bunch of plastic trinkets. Even if the plaster was shaped like a rock, that might be something they could work with, but it is an absolute brick. No imagination at all to this product.

This is fun for all ages!, December 28, 2009

This was bought for our 10 year old son, for Christmas. He loves digging for the treasures. The problem is, for him, is that all his siblings and parents love digging up the treasures too. So, this would be good for any age. We will probably get his other siblings one next year for Christmas too. We have not played the game yet...we are still trying to dig out the hidden items.

This gift was the hit of a party that my son went to. The response to it was so positive that I ordered more like it.
