In theory, this is a great idea for teaching the idea of induced current for generating electricity. In reality, the product was poorly made and did not work.

This review is from: Toysmith 4M Green Science Spinning Top Generator (Toy)
We had other "Green Science" kits which worked fine. But this spinning generator did not work. It is too flimsy and poorly executed in the "hardware" department in order to work properly. The spinning disk is merely paper-thin and scrapes the bottom. It is supposed to be hand induced like a spinning top or dreidel. But because of the uneven running action it does not turn long enough to produce energy. The wires and led bulb are very low quality and stopped working after just three dim sparks. The "radio tower" is made of thin plastic and topples over. In short: The kit is of no use.
