Maybe at first glance, you'd overlook this orange or yellowish sea-mine-looking toy. But that would be a mistake. Some might have success with Sofie the giraffe or those teething toys that you put in the fridge. We had success with this soft, squeezable, phthalate-free, squeaking toy. Our son can--on some occasions--spend a half an hour being entertained by this.
What's really good about it are the tentacles/soft spikes that stick out. This allows your child to grasp it him/herself and try and jam one of the other tentacles/soft spikes into the mouth so that s/he can massage his/her gumlines with it. (Our son doesn't have any visible teeth yet, but he's probably close.) Some teething toys are circular, but they are too wide for the baby's small mouth to have any part of the toy actually reach the gums--which is frustrating for the baby. Particularly when s/he tries to massage the gums a little farther back from the front teeth area. But the soft spikes on this teether ball are long enough to get that area, but short enough that you don't have to worry about him/her having a gag reflex. Further, because s/he's picking it up and putting it into his mouth on his/her own, s/he is developing his/her motor skills and hand-eye coordination, as well as independence. Also, as you know, the amount of baby drool when a baby is teething is ridiculous, so as with any teething toy, you will want to make sure that it is easily washable. This one is; just wash it like any other toy. No crevices that you have to worry about bacteria hiding in. One thing that the Amazon description didn't tell me was that it is scented. It's not really a big deal; in fact, I think that may be part of the reason that my son digs it. The scent doesn't go away after multiple washings; and, it has a pleasant smell, so that is nice. All in all, a wonderful toy. In fact, initially, my mom bought this so that my son would have something to play with at her house, and after the success over there, we bought one... which led to this being a gift for a lot of our new parent friends' children for Christmas. Needless to say, I recommend this product.

Easy to Handle, Even for Little Guys,

I just got this for my 3 month old son. He's just at the beginning stages of handling toys, but he was able to hold this and get it into his mouth easily. My only issue is the color, I would like to have been able to pick another one. I do love this, however, and so does my son. (It's already been a great relief to me. He is nursing and won't take a pacifier, but with this he holds it and sucks on it so easily, he was able to soothe himself.)

My son loves this toy. He knew instantly what to do with it, he holds on to one peg and chews on another, he pulls it out and looks at it, talks to it... just loves it. He got it at 5 months old, now is 7 months old and he has not yet figured out that it squeaks. It smells delicious too!

Made of PVC--NOT GOOD for little ones!,

I so wanted to like this for my son, it is well-designed, a one-piece teether that is very easy to keep clean and best of all it is one that he really enjoys. However, I recently found out that this teether ball is made from PVC, which is in my opinion a "poison" plastic. This item is sadly going in the trash :(

Its a teething toy...not much else to say. My little guy plays with it a little (10 months old) but doesnt show anymore interest then the other teething toys.
However I LOVE the smell of it...it reminds me of the strawberry shortcake dolls!

This is one of my nearly 5-month-old son's favorite teethers (he also loves the Sassy Flutterby Teether Developmental Toy). Note that the teether ball comes in two colors--orange and yellow. Ours is the orange shade of the fruit by that name.
The knobs are just right for my son to grasp and the size makes it easy for him to bring the ball to his mouth. The teether knobs make a very slight squeaking/rubbing sound against his gums (which is different from the squeak the ball makes when squeezed), but I'm not sure if that is a draw for him as much as just the feel of it against his itchy gums. He's able to get one of the knobs toward the back of his mouth, which he seems to particularly enjoy. The squeak that the ball makes when squeezed is a bit on the quieter side, which I appreciate, but my son has only suqeezed it on his own one time so far. I think the teether would be just as effective without the squeak option. This teether is also simple to clean without difficult to access nooks and crannies. I just dip mine in soapy water and scrub with a bottle brush then rinse and air dry. The one thing that would make this perfect would be a way to attach it to his clothing or car seat with a strap, such as the Booginhead Pacifier Holder, Orange Grey Stripe that we already love and use for his Soothie pacifier. The ball is small enough that it could be easily lost, and he has recently learned the "parent pick-up" game where he throws things over the side of his car seat, so attaching this teether would be the perfect solution.

My son started teething at 4 months and wanted to chew/suck on everything, but didn't have the hand-to-mouth coordination yet to grab a chew toy and hold it in his mouth. He's five months old now, and we like this teether ball because he can hold onto it and chew on it while lying on his stomach and resting on his elbows. He also likes it when we squeeze the ball because it squeaks, and he laughs.

I guess you get what you pay for. This toy is not soft at all!! I cannot imagine my baby squeezing it, since I wasn't able to do it. It is going back.
I would recommend to spend more money and buyVulli Sophie the Giraffe Teether its wonderful I know so many kids that enjoy it so much!!!

I really like this purchase. The baby loves it as soon as he sees it he opens his mouth and grabs with his hands to hold it. My daughter says it looks like a dog toy, but the baby loves it.

This ball is a great size for small hands, and babies can pick it up easily by one of the bumps on the ball. But, the material is pretty stiff and my baby doesn't like it, and she sticks almost anything and everything in her mouth. The fact that she mouths everything but she wasn't interested in this tells me it is likely other babies won't like it, either. Maybe if the bumps were rounded and if the material was more flexible she would be interested. The packaging is nice, the price is good - perfect for a stocking stuffer or add-on to a shower gift - but I am not impressed with the lack of interest my daughter has in it. Hopefully she will enjoy it more for tactile stimulation in the future, but we will stick to softer things for her to chew on.
