Bought this for my four year old son. He loves it. Even my older son who's 12 cant resist playing with this toy. I should have bought two now that I think about it.

Inoperative right out of the package, The fit and finish is very poor thus, the O-ring that should make the cork pop was dislodged and it doesn't work. Spend an extra $5 and get one that works from Cabella's. [...]

I've oiled the cork a million times and it doesn't seem to want to pop ever. It takes about 10 pumps to get it to pop once. My 2 and 4 year old boys became bored very quickly when it didn't work easily.

This gun is cheap. You can get it to pop if you pump it a couple times and only then does the cheap cork make a small pop. This isn't even dollar store quality.

I purchased two of these for my four year olds. When they arrived, I decided to give them a try. There aren't any instructions included with them so I tried two different ways. First, I pulled the handle back to charge the piston. Placed the cork in the barrel, then gave it a solid steady push. The air rush out around the cork and what felt like the charging rod...
I tried again four more times.

Next, I pulled the cork out and looked at the indention the barrel made on the cork and reseated the cork deeper. I pulled the handle back to charge the piston then gave it a solid steady push. The air rush out around the cork again and around the charging rod... I tried about another four more times and ended up pinching my hand between the handing and barrel. I repositioned my hands and tried again. The cork finally popped about the sixth time. I would say after that I was able to get the cork to pop out every few pushes.

I tried it on the second pop gun. The same issue occurred.

I found that the rifle pop guns appear to work better.

This pop gun was a lot smaller than I expected but I figured for the price, it was alright. We've only owned it about 8 months but 2 months ago it quit working. I'm not sure why but the cork does not POP out anymore like its supposed to. I know toys dont last forever, but I was pretty disappointed that it only worked for 6 months. The construction of it is very nice. Its all wooden and painted very well. Maybe we just a defective one?

These guns are great fun, but not very durable. This is the second one we have purchased that has broken on the first day of play. The interior screw that holds the cork and string is too short and should be screwed into something more durable than cork. For a $1.99 it's not a bad deal but after shipping they are $5 a piece. I would suggest the 4 pack available on prime shipping for $12.99 that way when one breaks you have a spare.
