R Kelly wows the fans once again with his newest effort titled TP-2.com (remember 1993's 12 Play? Think of this as part two). Once again he proves (although not intentionally) that he is the most talented male R&B artist. He wrote, arranged, and produced all 19 tracks.

I wish to give R.Kelly his props. Vocally, he's been compared to Charlie Wilson of the Gap Band, and Aaron Hall of Guy, but he's truly grown into his own man. I'd even go as far as saying that R. Kelly is the reigning King of R&B. He's done a whole lot in his over 10 years in the business. Let me give you a brief summary of his achievements.

5.0 out of 5 stars King of R&B, December 11, 2000
This review is from: Tp-2.Com (Audio CD)
R Kelly wows the fans once again with his newest effort titled TP-2.com (remember 1993's 12 Play? Think of this as part two). Once again he proves (although not intentionally) that he is the most talented male R&B artist. He wrote, arranged, and produced all 19 tracks.

The CD starts off with the sexy TP-2.com with a jumpin groove that will make you dance. Strip For You is a little of a twist, about a male singing to the woman, offering to strip for her for a change, a nice slinky R&B soul song. R&B Thug is one of the more R&B flavored tracks. The Greatest Sex, I Dont Mean it follow. Just Like That is a sexy ballad, and Like A Real Freak is a fun song. Fiesta is a nice song as well.

The tracks continue, after an interlude titled The Real R. Kelly, the ballads continue with One Me, and the well known first single I Wish. Some highlights include A Woman's Threat and I Mean (I Dont Mean It). There is also an I Wish Remix (To All The Homies That We Lost) which is nice. The album closes with the I Believe I Can Fly like The Storm is Over Now, which is a great album closer.

I reccomend this album to anyone who appreciates really good music thats fun to listen to.

5.0 out of 5 stars The King of R&B releases the BEST soul music ever made, November 19, 2000
This review is from: Tp-2.Com (Audio CD)
R. Kelly (the man behind gems like "If I Could Turn Back The Hands Of Time" and "Bad Man") is finally back with TP-2.COM (Twelve Play 2000). Frankly, it's a masterpiece. THE best album I own. If you compare this producer, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, arranger and Grammy award-winner with Marvin Gaye or Otis, in my opinion R. Kelly outdoes them. This album gives proof of his enormous talent. Every song is a pearl. The album's main theme is sex, love and relationships. Kelly makes you go on a TwelvePlay-ride. Like Prince, Kelly isn't shy when he means that sex is the best experience there is.

Two incredible and heartbreaking songs are dedicated to his mother Joanne ("I Wish")and his homies that were lost ("I Wish - remix").On both songs, who are musically different, the guitars are playing wonderfully, strings in the background, and a singing choir, and of course R. Kelly's lovely voice. On "A Woman's Threat", my personal favourite, he explains what you'll be missing and what is going to happen if you treat your woman badly. While the piano and strings plays, he sings about the story about the three little bears.

The seductive "The Greatest Sex" has a perfect Rome & Juliet-theme when he sings: "From beyond this bed of mine I see/ Silvern fence with you on top of me/ And the windowblinds are filled with rays of sun/ And all your secret fantasies thy will be done/ And inside of your walls there were dwell of capricorn/ If we keep this up a lovechild will be born".

The forgiving "I Don't Mean It" is great, the fantastic emotion-explaining "Just Like That", the new party song "Fiesta"... well I can go on and on. ALL songs are excellent. On "I Mean (I Don't Mean It)" he even speaks to the Lord. Every time the songs' bridges appears, they take the song to a level situated extremely high. Kelly always writes about his true inner feelings. For anyone who loves soul and R&B, "TP-2.COM" is the perfect and best choice. If only I could explain the joy I feel every time I listen to the whole album. I've done my best, now why wouldn't you want THE GREATEST SOUL ALBUM OF OUR TIME.

5.0 out of 5 stars R Continues to Roll, November 8, 2000

After droppin 4 albums his sensational debut Born In To The 90's his ground breaking 12 Play, his most personal CD R.Kelly. And 1998 's very entertaining but uneven double Cd R.. He comes back with his 5th and his best album of his career.. Yes it's even better then what i felt was his best up to this point 12 Play .. Mr. Kelly returns back to the 12 Play form that garn him major success that is no more evident then on such songs like A Strip For You , Like A Real Freak, One Me, Dont You Say No, One Me, Feelin On Yo Booty all these songs should keep long time R.Kelly fans satisfied.. But R have other things on his mind as well that is certainly evident on what i think is the best song on the album I Decided the song deals with making a committment and staying with it.. This is a great song one of the best songs he has written.. Other highlights on a great CD

The Greatest Sex the title of this song is actually misleading The song isnt what title suggest.. It's a very romantic song

R&B Thug , I Dont Mean It , I Wish, A Woman's Threat, All I Really Want, The Storm Is Over , I Wish(To The Homies That We Lost remix)

All These songs are some of his best work to date.. If you are a true R.Kelly you will make sure that this is in your collection

You will be glad that you did!!

On his first album with the Public Announcement, he gave us "She's Got That Vibe", the now classic "Honey Love", and "Slow Dance". He produced tracks for Hi-Five on the side. Then in 1993 he dropped his real debut, '12-Play' with "Bump and Grind", "Sex Me" and my personal R.Kelly favorite, "My Body's Callin"...that's just the first half of his illustrious career.

He introduced us to the exquisitely sensuous Aaliyah (and I'll leave that at that). Then he did a killer remix of Janet's "Anytime Anyplace", wrote Michael Jackson's "You Are Not Alone", and released a third album with cuts like "You Remind Me Of Something" and the unforgettable song and video "Down Low". Then he worked with the Isley brothers, Mary J. Blige and Toni Braxton. In the fall of 1996 he released "I Believe I Can Fly" from the Space Jam soundtrack, which won 3 Grammys.

Then he released the 'R' album in 1998, a double CD that used elements of the '12 Play' cover art. I'll say it here: In my opinion, R. Kelly's best albums are '12 Play' and 'R'. This album included "Home Alone" (the jam - trust me), "When A Woman's Fed Up", (nice) "Half On A Baby", (this one is Marvin Gay-esque) and countless other tracks including "If I Could Turn Back The Hands Of Time" and "I'll Be Your Angel" with Celine Dion.

Now, we have 'TP-2.com'. I bought it, listened to it and was dissapointed. It sat on my shelf for awhile. I listened to it again on a road trip, determined to find something I liked since a friend of mine insisted that it was good. Then I discovered the tracks worth listening to. Here they are:

1) Just Like That: This is one of his best - ever. A beautiful, majestic ballad to his loved one. It gives me visions of granduer, and beautiful sistas (sorry, but I have to give it up for my sistas...) like Michael Michele, Nia Long and Jada Pinkett...

2)I Wish - The Remix: This is an even more 'conversational' version than the first one, and extremely personal. I'd say along with Dave Hollister, Jill Scott and Musiq, R. Kelly is taking R&B to the next level...I hereby dub this 'Conversational R&B'

3) I Decided: Angelic...this one is a pledge to his woman...to treat her right, for good. Inspiring.

4) A Woman's Threat: This song sounds like something off the 'R' album in 98. It works...a cautionary tale.

5) I Mean (I Don't Mean It): This is a remix of "I Don't Mean It" which appears earlier on the album. They're both good, but R. Kelly's conversation with God on this track is tight...

6) Feelin' On You Booty: This one is pretty nice too. Just a good song to get down to, youknowatimsayin? The end is funny.

7) The Storm Is Over Now: The guitar on here reminds me of Prince's "Pink Cashmere". At any rate, this song is inspirational, like "I Believe I Can Fly" - I like this one.

There are some other tolerable tracks on here that don't break any new ground like "Fiesta", "TP-2", and "Like A Real Freak"; but the major problem with 'TP-2.com' is that it's a redundant letdown after his previous work. But the seven songs I singled out? Those are what make this album worth owning...then the rest will grow on you. I don't consider this a must-own, but it's not a throw-away either. It's an O.K. album.

Yours,

Andrew Knyte (Trust me)

This new one from R. Kelly is another tight cd. There is not too much that is new here. Its a combination of the stuff he did on the 12 play album and his last album Rated R. Anyone who likes R. Kellys music should check this one out. The songs I think stand out R: 2,3,5,7,8,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18. If you expect to hear something new that will set him apart from stuff he did in the past then this isnt for you, but if you just want to hear something new from kelly with something extra added then this is it.

If u have not heard by now but R.Kelly is the king of R&B right now. This is a CD that gets it jumping from the beginning with a hot intro. The only tracks that i advise skipping is the interlude " The Real R.Kelly" which is a small spoof off of Eminem. The first half of the CD starts with a song for the ladies of a role reversal with " Strip for You". The third track one of my many favorites is a song that describes Kelly " R&B Thug". One of the tracks that signifies a change in Kelly's usual very explicit sexual anthems in his early music is " The Greatest Sex" which shows the change to romance. " I Don't Mean It" is next and it shows his ability to right a song from listening to songs that he has already wrote which is " I Mean ( I dont mean it)". So far I thought this CD couldnt get any better but it does with a club banger called "Fiesta". He creates a song that only a poet can write with " Just Like That". Kelly returns to his sexually charged songs with " Dont You Say No" . This ends the first half of the CD and brings you to the second half which is equally if not better than the first half. He starts this part off with " One Me" and their is trully only one R.Kelly. He goes on to give us the top two singles from this great CD " I wish" and its remix. The song that trully shows his versatility is " A Woman's Threat" it shows his ability to put himself in the position of a female and sing from her point of view. " I Decided" is a song for those who choose love over anything else, while " All I really Want" is an above average track that is quite good. He returns again to his sexually evolved songs with a song all the fellas can relate to if you have danced with a "well endowed" female with "Feelin on Yo Booty". He ends the track with a very spiritual song in " The Storm Is Over Now". Yo if I haven't convinced you yet just listen to the CD. It is a great CD i encourage buying three: one for the house, one for the car, and one back up. I didn't and now I have to buy a new one because I played it to much.

Whoa! It is almost a crime for one man to be so talented. Kelly is the Marvin Gaye\Elton John of our time. He has appeal amongst all people. Track Number 13 gives advice to men who mistreat a good woman. From the first time I heard "I Wish" I knew that the man was back to bring sustinance to the music industry. The album leaves you satisfied and you can listen to it over and over without getting bored because there are different tempos of music to please the listener continously. Then again, what did you expect from the greatest male artist of our time?

Since this is supposed to be another "12 Play", I wonder why he didn't limit the album to 12 tracks. Probably because he wanted to fill the CD with as much of his music as possible. Well, as I've come to expect from R. Kelly, they're all nice songs, even the intro. Nobody can say the man doesn't know R&B with a touch of hip hop. "Strip for You" is one of his best. The hot, "drip-drop", beat sets the mood as he seduces some happy chick. Actually, sex is the whole theme of "12 Play". The guys imagine they're singing to the girls as the girls imagine R. Kelly is singing to them. That's how babies are made. This stuff is the perfect soundtrack to drown out moans and groans of pleasure on bouncy mattresses. And when he's not helping us get our freak on or exploring the problems of relationships ("I Don't Mean It"), he's mourning the lost of a loved one ("I Wish"), just partying ("Fiesta"), or making us feel good in less salacious ways ("The Storm Is Over Now"). Though I don't particularly care for the "Real R. Kelly" interlude, it's all good music.

5.0 out of 5 stars R.Kelly`s Best Album Ever... A R&B Gem...!, April 26, 2003

Speechless...That`s how I feel when I bought and heard this Work of Art. R.Kelly puts all his focus, mind, spirit, heart and soul to it. Not many artist can do what he is doing...making Multi-Platinum Albums and Writting Hit Songs for Other Artists out there. For me, TP-2 cross the line of a Classic Act, Amazing Music threw out the Complete Album. It can`t be more perfect than this. There is not one single song that isn`t even bad or average. My most heard songs on here are: I WISH AND HIS REMIX, STRIP FOR YOU, WOMAN`S THREAT, ONE ME, I DECIDED, JUST LIKE THAT, I DON`T MEAN IT, ALL I REALLY WANT, FEELIN ON YO BOOTY, GREATEST SEX AND THE GOSPEL THE STORM IS OVER. Maybe some of you will love may not like 2 or 3 tracks but I swear it will grown on you at time past by, but for me I was ...Speechless, as I said before, when listen to every single song. He is one of a kind, NO DOUBT. BUY AT LEAST 2 COPIES IS WORTH EVERY DOLLAR AND CENT THAT IT COST AND MORE AND MORE.
