Editorial Reviews

Review

If you like authors such as Gillian Flynn or Rachel Abbott then this is definitely a novel for you. This is a super fast paced thriller that keeps you guessing right to the end.
Although it is nominally a missing persons book it actually turns more into a psychological thriller as the investigators try to unravel what really happened.
The ending was definitely a surprise, you will never guess it. It marks the book out from others in the genre. ~ John Forrester, The Crime Scene

I loved this book. If I had an award to hand out for "best hook in a novel," Clancy would win the gold medal. The minute I started reading my eyeballs nearly popped out of my head. Traceless keeps the action moving along at a nice pace and crosses the finish line with the momentum of an Olympic sprinter. - Belinda, Every Free Chance Book Reviews

This is a great pick for any readers who enjoy crime novels or CSI. The author does an excellent job with the characters. ~ Maria Miller

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to get to the 'nitty-gritty' of why people do what they do. ~ Maureen Reil

There are so many twists and turns in this book it is hard to put the book down... I wasn't able to and had to read the whole thing in one day. Amazing writing; yet another hit from Joanne Clancy! ~ Ashley Kennedy

This was a fast-paced crime thriller. It allowed the reader to try to solve the crime and work alongside the investigative team. I definitely see a sequel in the future. ~ Sue Leonhardt

4.0 out of 5 stars A mystery within a mystery!! June 26, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
One night, Adam Stoltz simply vanished from the face of the earth. Where is he? What happened to him on that fateful night? Is he dead or alive? Who is behind all this? These and many other questions are posed to try and solve the intriguing mystery behind the disappearance of this young man in Joanne Clancy's 'Traceless'.

Adam Stoltz and his fiancee Darcey Ackerman are travelling in their campervan through the desolate Wicklow Mountains in darkness. At one point, another vehicle reaches them and the driver urges Adam to stop, saying there were sparks coming out of the campervan's exhaust. While Darcey waits in her seat, Adam goes out to investigate. Suddenly she hears a loud bang and the next thing she knows is this man entering beside her in the campervan with a gun. He ties Darcey's hands behind her back and forces her out of the campervan and into his vehicle.

Darcey manages to escape from his vehicle and hide in the pitch-black thick undergrowth. The attacker tries to find her but after some time he gives up and leaves her there in the cold and dark. After many hours hiding, Darcey hears a car coming through that road and she immediately springs out of her hiding place, stops the oncoming car and is rescued.

Led by D.S.George Ellis, an intensive police investigation ensues but from the outset nothing seems to make sense. With no body or murder weapon found, Darcey's strange behaviour and her account of events begin to raise police suspicions and everyone's finger is pointed at her. Gina Jones, a newspaper crime reporter decides to dig deep in this story and is determined to find out what actually happened on that night and find Adam Stoltz.

4.0 out of 5 stars quick, entertaining, unpredictable June 18, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Did I enjoy this book: I loved this book. If I had an award to hand out for “best hook in a novel,” Clancy would win the gold medal. The minute I started reading my eyeballs nearly popped out of my head. Traceless keeps the action moving along at a nice pace and crosses the finish line with the momentum of an Olympic sprinter.

If I only judged this story based on its entertainment value, I’d give it five stars easily, but the book had a few problems. First, any tough editor would have rejected the frequent, jarring jumps in point of view. Second, there were too many loose ends and unanswered questions. I finished the book entertained but unsatisfied.

Would I recommend it: Sure. It’s quick, entertaining, and unpredictable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Read, and the title says it all! August 17, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
* I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. *

I was hooked on this story from the very first paragraph. It was a non-stop journey for me to continue until the end of the book, I just had to know what happened next! The plot takes you on a roller coaster ride from start to finish and even then you are left wondering....This was my first book by Joanne Clancy, but it will not be the last! I look forward to the next Ellis Jones book as well as the others that she has written.
The characters are well developed and you can feel yourself on the fence about what happened to Adam, but as you are guessing and trying to figure it out, you just can't keep up with the turns in the story. I loved the fact that the author takes the main characters out of their comfort zone and makes them do things that are not them. I also enjoy how the hero is really not a hero at all, but a character that is so real life that they could be you or someone that you know. I enjoyed the way in which the author left the end (you will have to read it to see) and the way in which the guilt that someone feels changes the whole dynamics of the story. They are the characters that you love to hate, once you really get to know them and all of their secrets!
This is a book that shouldn't be missed and it should be added to your TBR list asap because it is just that good. Make sure that you leave plenty of time for reading though, as you will not be able to put it down once you start....there is just no spot to stop...it's edge of your seat, stay up all night, ignore everything around good!! If you enjoy a great mystery, such as Gone Girl, then this book is the one for you!! It is amazing, don't miss out on it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Where's The Body"....... July 25, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I like Joanne Clancy's crime novels...They are always intriguing, murder/mysteries from different view points from all the characters all the time...If you like CSI shows you should enjoy this book too...It had many shocking twists and turns especially at the ending which I definitely did not see coming...Quick page turner that I couldn't put down...

They are traveling around the world and end up in Wicklow Mountain....Adam Stoltz gets out to help a stranger and girlfriend Darcy Ackerman gets attacked...Adam goes missing with out a trace...No hard evidence...Police Investigator D.S. George Ellis starts pressuring Darcy along with the news reporters..She is not acting like a weeping, brokenhearted girlfriend concerned over her missing boyfriend....In fact, she is as cold as ice....

Where is Adam...

I will always look forward to this author's next book...
