Editorial Reviews

Olivier Award-winner TRACIE BENNETT gives what critics have raved is "the performance of a lifetime" as Judy Garland in Peter Quilter's highly acclaimed new play, END OF THE RAINBOW. This emotional powerhouse of a show was the most buzzed about theater piece last year in London where it played to capacity night after night.

5.0 out of 5 stars The essence of Judy captured..... March 13, 2012
Format:Audio CD
I find the reviews here criticizing Ms Bennett for not "sounding" exactly like Garland to be really missing the point. This is a soundtrack from a musical play, not a drag show. The intent was not to do an impression of Garland, but to capture the energy and essence of Judy and her music. The play is set at point in time late in Judy's life/career when her vocal ability had been sadly diminished, but her interpretive gifts were still much in evidence. Quite frankly, I believe Bennett does extremely well in capturing Judy as the end was drawing nearer. Elaine Paige appeared in "Piaf" and quite honestly sounded far less like the original than Bennet's Garland....but again, she captured the essence of Piaf and her music. To really appreciate what Ms Bennett is doing, I suggest viewing some of the YouTube videos relating to her performance in this play..really quite remarkable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tracie Bennett IS Judy Garland. February 5, 2012
By caliboy
Format:Audio CD
While the songs on this CD are fine or let's say "good enough" - it is Tracie Bennett's acting - her depiction of Judy - that makes her the standout Garland of my generation. Don't miss this performance - it is nothing short of uncanny and never less than absolutely fascinating. This CD is a great souvenir of the show but it was only during the actual performance that the show and Tracie's depiction of Garland shone.

1.0 out of 5 stars What's The Point?
I can't imagine why anyone would pay money to hear a poor imitation of Judy Garland.
I thought the show itself was trash and Tracy Bennett's "singing" is a joke.
