Excellent Beginning Genealogy Teaching Manual,
By George Ballentine (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tracing Your Ancestry: A Step-By-Step Guide to Researching Your Family History (Paperback)
This book covers all aspects of getting starting with family history research. The beginner is introduced to the sometimes confusing world of genealogical research in a straightforward, systematic manner. I teach a genealogy course at a local college and this is the book I use as my text. My students learn to do their research correctly from the beginning, and have the book to use later for reference. If you are looking for a book that will get you started in the right direction, this is it. The center of the book has a section of illustrations that are invaluable in explaining documents and their importance as evidence. Highly recommended for all beginners and other wanting to learn to do research correctly.

Great Book to Learn Genealogy,
This review is from: Tracing Your Ancestry: A Step-by-step Guide To Researching Your Family History (Paperback)
This is the first book I read on "how to" conduct a genealogical search. The techniques and tools learned from this book got me started correctly. There is a companion Log book you can buy that has lots of forms and tips. The forms especially are invaluable and will save a newbie lots of time. |
