This review is from: 'road and Track' on Aston Martin 1962-1990 (Brooklands Road Tests S.) (Paperback)
Brookland Books's series of original articles republished on vintage/classic is unique. We all see rosy and nostalgic books on various cars, but those are either written as reminiscences or from people who weren't even born? Or, these vehicles are judged by today's standards. It is so valuable to have contemporary viewpoints from the period when these cars were originally sold.
The R & T series on the Aston Martin is good. As those of us old enough can remember, Road and Track was the most foreign-oriented of the great American car mags from the forties through the seventies. However, other magazines did drive and test these cars. After buying this book, I ended up going back and getting the big portfolio that covers all articles on these AM's. That larger book includes all of these along with British, Australian and American articles. For someone wanting a more rounded view of these cars, I'd recommend the Gold Portfolio. It doesn't cost that much more. |
