4.0 out of 5 stars Good value, reasonable utility
This item seems to be a good value for $25. Styling and design are very attractive. You really can adjust the lamps without having them stick in or creep out of position.

Packing is okay; I noticed very light scuffs on the base and on one of the chromed accents that I have been able to easily ignore.

After reading reviews here I went out and bought this track light. It's aesthetically pleasing - no doubt, but at 60w per bulb, it doesn't give off very much light. The lamp itself is pretty heavy, which makes for a stable base, but it's not ideal to move around with. I move back and forth from my home to my dorm and it's become such a hassle I leave it in my friend's...

You should expect heat production from any incandescent bulb; sorry, but this metal unit cannot bend the laws of physics and be cool to the touch shortly after it's turned on. Try turning bulbs OFF before adjusting them.

The quality of light from this unit is sort of marginal, though I'd expect most fixtures of this type to waste a lot of light by not reflecting it outward very well. It's fine for bouncing light off the ceiling or walls, or using the highest bulb to directly light a desk surface. As with any bare bulb, light is soft when reflected and harsh when used directly.

Finally, the unit stands more or less straight. I have never had a problem with it tipping over. In fact, the base is quite heavy and inspires confidence. And if you're tripping circuit breakers with 60W bulbs, you've got other problems, pal.

If you're looking for something pretty with soft light, this is the lamp for you. If you're looking for a work light, this model just won't cut it.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's OK I guess..., September 19, 2003

Had I to do it over again, I woulda bought a different lamp even if it meant spending a couple more dollars. Like they all said, it gets VERY hot and it tips over very easily. The silver metal rings on the lamp heads fall off all the time. It also has blown a couple fuses, but usually when I am vacuuming or using a lot of power for something else, so I have to turn it off or unplug it at these times. But, it gives me light, which I need in my basement room. I suggest spending a couple more dollars on a higher quality lamp though.

Great price, simple clean design, only problem: eats up bulbs like candy!

I have been using this item for about six months now, and I have encountered no technical issues. The lamp is also much more attractive than comparable items, and is overall the best value-for-dollar option that I found available. The only drawback is a minor one: the shades are not as flexible as one would expect.

4.0 out of 5 stars I Still Like It!, August 10, 2003

I've had this lamp for over a year and have had no problems. It's a great accent to the other furniture in the room and provides the opportunity to direct the light in several directions instead of having all the light going up or down as with most lamps. In reference to the outlet problems pointed out by the other two reviewers, mine is plugged into the outlet where the powerstrip for my computer and all its accessories are plugged in. I haven't run into a problem with the circuits yet. I do agree that the shades get very hot, but that's pretty much a given if you buy a lamp with metal shades on it (duh). As for the children, it's also a given to not put things on the floor that a child could knock over. All floor lamps are top heavy and will fall if a baby trys to use it to stand.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy lamp, July 27, 2010

This one seems sturdier than most of the pole lamps that won't stay screwed together, topple over and are a major pain. It's attractive and seems to be made of heavier material. So far it's working out well and staying where I need it to be.

The lamp actually doesnt seem to overheat as much as similar floor lamps that I have owned, and is overall pretty sturdy. It seems like it will last a decent amount of time, especially for the price paid.

This lamp is fine. It looks standard enough for any decor. If you need a cheap fixture quickly, this one does the trick. That said, don't be surprised if the bulb sockets are poorly cut.
