Take Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa and Count Basie, put them in a studio in the year 2001 with some of the best musicians in the world and they'd probably come up with something close to what you hear on this CD. Fearless arrangements mix with big band instrumentation and wailing guitar solos to produce an absolute gem of an album that will send any jazz purist running for cover. From Chris Siebold's beautiful semi acoustic guitar solo on the opening track `Kimotion' to Vinnie Colaiuta's thunderous drum solo on `Buffalo' we're treated to a roller coaster ride of high energy brilliance from ex Vietnam vet Kimo Williams and friends. Williams, an accomplished singer, bass player, guitarist and arranger plays on most of the album and sings on a cover of Hendrix's Manic Depression and does as much justice to it as the late Hendrix would have done had he survived to the present day. If you've ever wondered what a rap song would sound like with the backing of a cunningly arranged big band then look no further than `The Meeting' fronted by rapper J.U.I.C.E.
This album is an absolute, complete and utter MUST for anybody even vaguely interested in Big Band rock. To say I was completely blown away is a colossal understatement. If you're tired of sickly sweet waiting room fusion then this is the album to give you hair where you never had it before.
