5.0 out of 5 stars Collin's Best CD Yet!
I love Collin Raye. His music has touched my life as well as most everyone's at a time or two. His latest CD, Tracks, Is, by far his best yet. First song on the CD (She's All That)-- is an upbeat CD about loving your woman. Very good pick for an intro to the CD. Second song on the CD (I Want To Be There)-- is a powerful ballad about true love. Very well written...

Very well written. Sounds like an instant classic. Third song (Completely)-- sounds like a true country song, Collin Style! Very touching and moving. I love you completely. Very nice. Fourth song (Couldn't Last A Moment) uses talk and singing to perfection. Very moving, the first single released off of this CD. This is also an instant classic in Collin Raye's repetoire. Fifth song (You Will Always Be Mine)-- another touching song with Raye's soft, tender voice. Sixth song (A Long Way To Go)-- A song about a woman leaving you. Her memory has a long way to go in order to leave the mind of a man. Very upbeat song. Lively and fun to listen to. I just love this one. Seventh song (Harder Cards)-- I think this is the best song on the CD. It talks of domestic abuse. A dark topic where the woman kills the husband because of that abuse that he has done to her. Why judge her because she killed him? Compare this with Dixie Chicks' song Goodbye Earl, but this song is a medium tempo and a lot more meaningful and solemn. Very very good song. Eigth song(Landing In Love)-- another of thos love songs that will touch you and let you fell what it's like to fall in love with that special person. Ninth song(Loving This Way)-- A beautiful duet which tells about two people falling out of love. Probably the 2nd best song on this album. This duet is sung with Bobbie Eakes. Very touching and mellow and free-flowing. Tenth song (You Still Take Me There)-- A song about letting the one you love know how much you love them. Eleventh song (Water And Bridges) -- Vere powerful song that deals with abortion and drinking. We all have water and bridges in our lives. Decisions, what we live with and how we deal with them. One of those songs by Collin Raye, like the Eleventh Commandment, Love Remains, Not That Different, and Little Rock, tells a meaning that is life itself. Powerful. Twelfth and Last Song (She's Gonna Fly) -- Another powerful song about Collin's Grandma. Why did the father upabove hurt her and made her forget her memories? Then the answer came down to him. She's Gonna Fly. A powerful and beautiful song about Grandparents going to heaven. Why? Very Very Touching, this has to be the 3rd best song on this album. But the whole CD is touching, moving, lessson's learned-type CD. Collin at his best. I hope this massive review helps you. Collin is the best and this is the BEST CD I have ever bought. Definitely a Keeper.

4.0 out of 5 stars Collin has another winner!, July 23, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Tracks (Audio CD)
Before I purchase a CD, I usually listen to some of the samples from the internet. But what really convinced me to buy "Tracks" were the outstanding reviews that it garnered here on Amazon.com. I have to say that I wasn't disappointed.

With the exception of one or two songs, this CD was outstanding. Collin Raye has one of the most powerful voices in country music and he puts his talents to good use in "Tracks".

My favorite song off the CD is definitely "Loving This Way", the duet he did with Bobbie Eakes. I cannot recall the last time Collin Raye has ever done a duet, but after listening to this one something tells me there will be more to come in the future. Bobbie Eakes has an amazing voice and it seems like her and Collin really clicked with this song.

My second favorite song from the CD is "You Still Take Me There" but the real winners from this album deal with controversial issues that only a man like Collin Raye can tackle in his music. "Harder Cards" will tug at your heart strings, but "She's Gonna Fly" can certainly be appreciated by anyone who has dealt with losing a loved one to "Alzheimer's Disease".

Collin has put together another wonderful album. I would also like to point out Collin's dedication in the liner notes of his album cover..."I dedicate this to my friend Owen James Hart. A good friend and a great father. Till we meet again..."

God Bless Collin Raye for the heartfelt dedication. And God Bless Owen Hart...a man who is certainly missed here on earth.

5.0 out of 5 stars AT LEAST 5 Great hits, May 16, 2000

I had it on order weeks before it was released and being a big fan of Mr Raye, I may be biased. He has turned down the tempo a bit and put in more love ballads on this album, from his hit "Couldn't Last a Moment" to the best song in my opinion on the album - "Landing In Love". There are at least 5 songs that give me goosebumps (fewer than his "The Walls Came Down" album). I suspect that "She's Gonna Fly" will be played at many funerals. He is continuing to sing songs that touch people in ways that move the soul.

4.0 out of 5 stars Huge Collin Raye Fan!, July 26, 2000

I have every CD Collin has cut and this is my least favorite. Although, the more you listen, the better it becomes. It "grows" on you so to speak. "Completely" is my favorite on this one. Collin has such a powerful voice. There is no one anywhere in the music business who has the enthusiasm for music that he does! "I Want to be There" is another good one on this CD. It is worth buying, but be prepared for a different line up of songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars RAISING THE BAR, December 29, 2000

Collin Raye continues to raise the bar and somehow improve on perfection with each album he releases. Tracks is no exception. Although there is no shortage of sentimental ballads on this one, there are just enough up tempo songs to break it up a bit. "She's gonna fly" has lyrics that everyone can relate to because everyone has lost someone dear to them. I challenge you to listen to this song and see if you don't get a little misty. If you don't tear up, I would recommend not only not listening to the rest of the album, but you should also check your pulse. "Completely", "Couldn't last a moment without you" and "Landing in Love" are all phenomenal songs, each with its own spirit and identity. The ballad "Loving this way" with Bobbie Eakes showcases Raye's ability to transition to singing a duet. His voices matches up perfectly with Eakes and this song has #1 written all over it. He seems to have a knack for picking songs that suit his style perfectly. "Water and Bridges" is an example of a song that hits home with everyone, being about past mistakes and being unable to turn back time. Raye also sings every word as if he's personally experienced it all. A song has more substance when it seems as if it has personal meaning to the singer. The bottom line is if you like CR's previous works, you will find Tracks at least as good, if not better. His albums seem to have a quality where the sum of the songs is actually greater than the whole. This is a must have album that is one of my favorite country albums of all time.

I have the last four CD's from Colin, and they just keep getting better. This one has a great mix of different rhythyms and styles that has a universal appeal. His ballads are incredibly moving, the spunky songs are fast and lively with a great sense of playfulness, and his "Harder Cards" really packs a punch. Thank goodness for guys like him who stand up for what they believe and do so in a non-preachy way. This is definitely a CD for your collection.

Collin has done it again. I didn't think I'd enjoy a CD as much as his "The Walls Came Down," but "Tracks" is just great. Every song is better than the last. You can't go wrong with Collin Raye and you can't find anyone with a better voice. Buy this one!
