This book does a great job at laying out a trading strategy every investor is capable of implementing. He did a great job at thoroughly explaining the trade process...how to go about it, and why it will work given the current environment. Traders of all skill levels will be able to understand, and execute this strategy...here comes a profitable decade!

Down to Earth investment advise,
By Cesar A. Luongo (Tallahassee, FL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Trade of the Decade: A Guide to Investing in the 2010s (Paperback)
I have been a regular reader of Jeffrey's newsletter for quite some time now. Of all the cacophony out there in the blogosphere about investment, I find his advise to be the one that makes the most sense to me. Jeffrey provides excellent perspectives not just on today's markets, but on what are the important considerations to be a successful investor. Listening carefully to what he says, you will be ready and standing at the right spot when the market decides to move. Jeffrey has taught me to be a more disciplined and prudent investor, and has given me some of the analytical tools and thinking processes to make decisions on my own as to what I think will happen, and how to position my portfolio accordingly. My retirement portfolio is much more solid and prepared to ride storms (and it has) thanks to Jeffrey's advise, and I thank him for that. This book could do the same for you.

I have been reading the newsletters for a few months now and recently started on the book. He does a great job of outlining the points in clear terms and providing great insight into the markets and strategies that are most beneficial. I recommend reading if trading and the markets in general are of interest to you.

Good Strategic Outline,
This review is from: The Trade of the Decade: A Guide to Investing in the 2010s (Paperback)
I have been reading the Draconian blog for quite some time, and the book is even better. It clearly outlines the issues of the day facing investors, and then actually gives you good advice on what to do about it. Although some of the relative value strategies are not so easy to implement, they are thought provoking and are based on sound advice. Contrary to the title, there is not just one "Trade", but several. All in all, an easy to read and profitable book, well worth your time.

Nuanced investing, honestly explained.,
This review is from: The Trade of the Decade: A Guide to Investing in the 2010s (Kindle Edition)
Sharp, humorous and philosophic, this book takes higher-level investment concepts and shows how they can be smartly applied in our changing and more cautious times. Although it is not written for the entry-level investor, its terms and discussions remain highly accessible. Reading about what motivates and excites the big dogs in the market turns out to be pretty motivational and exciting in itself. This honest and timely behind-the-scenes explanation of deep strategy will be a big help as I navigate my own finances, for sure.

The Trade of the Decade,
This review is from: The Trade of the Decade: A Guide to Investing in the 2010s (Paperback)
I have been reading Jeffrey's analysis off and on for years. His candid approach to the market and the factors that drive it are easy to understand AND they make sense. In today's unpredictable environment, and especially most recently, an investor actually has to think outside the box. But how do they do that? Without some sort of logical Guide making the best decision will simply be impossible. The factors of technology and how that has affected "trading" ALONE make it difficult for the individual investor to find returns. A logical process and some commitment to understanding the NEW NORMAL (realistic expectations) will better prepare the investor for reasonable returns over the next 10 years. That being said, there is NO EASY ROAD...and if you don't want to do it yourself, it would be a very good idea to find someone who thinks like Jeff, speaks like Jeff and manages money like Jeff. It is only my opinion, but we are in a new era--really. If you want to get in the game you better have the tools, reading this book would be a good place to start.

Publisher's Review,
This review is from: The Trade of the Decade: A Guide to Investing in the 2010s (Kindle Edition)
This book began as an experiment but wound up being an opportunity to spill some secrets about how differently elite portfolio managers see the world. Major league asset managers don't build investment portfolios the way that the retail investor does, and it's easier to emulate than one might think. The classic strategies that worked for mom & pop during the Long Boom of the 80's and 90's haven't worked in the last decade and won't in the decade to come.
This book is not a primer on investing. It's not a how-to guide. There are a million books on Amazon that do that better than I could. This book also doesn't tell you exactly which stocks and bonds to buy and sell. That stuff changes on a daily basis and it's why people watch Bloomberg and CNBC. What this book DOES aim to do is threefold: 1) Describe one of the key strategies that elite investors use to control risk and enhance return. 2) Provide a top-level, forward-looking view of the macro-economy to come. 3) Draw up a roadmap for proper asset allocation in that type of environment. Whether or not the book succeeds at those objectives is for you to decide. I think it does. I worked hard to make this as accessible as possible for the novice investor, he who doesn't speak the language of the industry but has assets that he's forced to invest. But I also think it's deep enough for the industry professional to appreciate. I suppose that's how the experiment began. Is it possible to write a book on investing that's fun and easy for amateurs to read yet conceptually deep enough for experts to geek out about? The answer, clearly, is "yes." I know that now. I just wonder why more financial writers don't do it.

Jeffrey Dow Jones - Book Review,
By
This review is from: The Trade of the Decade: A Guide to Investing in the 2010s (Paperback)
Thanks for the opportunity; I have been a frequent recipient of Jeffrey's weekly commentary. I know he melds insight from years of experience and market observations into this book. It is a practical approach that the novice reader of technical analysis will appreciate.
Of course there are plenty of areas to obtain market insight, but i respect Jeffrey's comments and make sure that i am part of his readership... |
