Built with a Mirror-Polished Stainless Steel Blade, fused with a Brass Spine with 1/4 inch spacing, allowing you to catch your enemies blade. Brass guard does not sit flush with back of knife and has a slight gap by design. The handle is built of Hardwood with a Polished Brass Trim. The knife fits snugly in a Custom Hand-crafted Leather Sheath, not only protecting you from the blade, but making you look good too.

A pretty good knife for the money. A couple minor flaws but nothing to get exited about. Mine was not sharp at all but now has a pretty good edge on it. My biggest complaint is its balance, being a little too blade heavy for a fighting knife. It does thrust very well however and has a well placed point. It would surley work as a camp knife but the brass strip will get caught splitting firewood. Its a lot of knife for the money however and if your a fan of the Musso design its the best deal going.

Don't expect to be dressing out deer or bears with this behemoth. While you probably could, this was not what this variation of Bowie was originally designed for. It is arguablly the best recreation of a fighting Bowie on the market. This is a mankiller. Contrary to popular legend the brass spine was not used to catch an opponents blade. Rather it was to add strength to the blade as whole. My only minor criticism are the slight finger grooves on the handle. Bowie handles were smooth, and the fighting blade was carried sharp side UP. This technique was for ripping upward.
The blade itself takes an edge easily. I used it to slice meat into very thin slices. I sliced an apple in mid-air without shattering the fruit.
While I might not wear this on the street, I would wear it at any primitive skills gathering.
Buy this in good conscience. It is worth the money.

I just today rcvd my 'primitive' Bowie after some delay as the first was lost in shipment by UPS. The shipper (Axperg) was superbly helpful in trying to track it down and then re-shipping. I was aghast at how huge this knife is! It is a man-sized knife to say the least and whether it is accurate to "the" genuine Bowie or not may be part of the great debate that continues to this day, but I can say this, THIS knife incorporates all the historical issues about that great part of cutlery history and then some, thus it would be an admirable addition to the knife collection of any history buff and especially mine (and at an affordable price)!
