Summary: The case is weak, the light is weak, and the air compressor is weak. But they all worked when I needed them.
I picked up this exact item on a different site sometime last year for $20. I opened it up, looked at it, plugged it in to see if it would turn on, then immediately threw it into my trunk and forgot about it without ever really testing it.
Then last week I was headed to my car, in a dimly-lit parking lot about 5 blocks from campus, and notice that my back tire was extremely low (apparently it had a slow leak. a couple weeks earlier I had gone to a gas station to inflate it, but didn't give it much thought since then). The problem was that it was after midnight and the nearest gas stations were all closed. Thankfully I had this inflator in the trunk.
So I pulled out the case and assessed what I had. I wasn't impressed. I had 3 adapters that were rattling around and would not properly secure to the inside of the case. 1 extremely weak light that had a few pieces break off when I pulled it from the case. And then the air hose that didn't quite properly fit the track inside the case, and a power cable. I honestly had little hope that this thing would actually do its job.
So I unraveled the power cable, which easily reached from my rear passenger side tire to the outlet just below the radio in my car (I'd say it's a good mid-full size car). Then I flipped the switch and the air compressor began to run (note, this thing is LOUD). Then I connected the air hose, clamped it down, and waited. Then I waited some more, and then waited some more.
This thing is slow. It took a little over 10 minutes for this thing to put 20 PSI in my tire. BUT thankfully it worked, and I was driving home soon after disconnecting everything and throwing it all back into the case (the best that I could, since nothing really stayed where it was supposed to go).
Would I buy this again? If I could find another brand, around this price, that included a better case and a better light (that used LEDs), then no, I would not buy this and I would buy that one instead. However, the only other brand I have found that utilizes this type of case and light setup is priced at $40. So I'm reluctantly going to buy another one of these... After I look around some more.
