I have owned these swords for a few years. These guys are excellent for practicing technique. Yes, they could be sharpened and turned into a weapons but, these are not true combat swords. If you are into practicing martial skills and performing your techniques with a blade that has a danger factor and not risking cutting off a limb, then this is a great buy...

PROS
for the price this set includes the longer sword which is REALLY great. I needed something for some trail clearing behind my new house, and this served the purpose really well. After sharpening the blade I had a great time cutting down vines and thorny plants. The smaller blade is perfect for display/decor, and the scabbard is nice for the price. After spending some time sharpening them properly, these blades performed well for me.

CONS
This metal, particularly the very tip of the blade, WILL BREAK, like how an exacto knife always loses their tip, so don't try to bend it or force it on things. Also, it isn't very sharp in particular right around the curve of the blade it isn't sharp at all- almost dull! The handle grips will slide around and bunch together, and one day I'm sure they will become loose and break off; I just leave them alone even if they bunch up during use.
The Metal may rust- I don't think it's stainless steel. The scabbard bends and is prone to hiccups as you slide the sword in. You have to be careful- you can't just force your swords to sheath- you have to guide them in.

BOTTOM LINE
I got this set for 23USD - Definitely worth it. Despite some of the cons I've listed, I think this set is above expectations for the price. They have an authentic appearance and upon closer observation they appear to be of good construction, and have this basic awesome feel to them. I didn't experience slipping or sliding with the handle grips, despite the fact that the grips slide down the handle and bunch together. You might be looking for a sword like the longer one, but don't really feel like the smaller one is worth your purchase. I'd pay 23$ just for the longer one, and really that's just what I did. I'm happy with my purchase and the shipping was 3 days early.

I recieved the Twin Blade set very promptly after ordering. The scabbard appears to be made of very durable material and the shoulder strap adjusts to the perfect length. All in all I am very Satisfied.

If you are a professional and are going into combat, goto cold steel or traditional Filipino blades.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent swords for the price, May 6, 2011

These swords are one piece construction point to pommel of 420 anodized stainless steel. The edges didn't arrive in perfect condition but they can be ground out. On these particular swords, smaller conventional sharpeners seemed to have little to no effect. The swords, in conjunction with the anodization, require a heavy sharpener at least at first to work out any kinks.

One of the other posters mentioned that the edges are similar to Xacto knife edges and chip away easily, which is true, but the solid single piece construction leads to a very durable product. I doubt these swords would break very easily, if at all.

The nylon grips are certainly sufficient, although they could be slightly more heavily wound for a better hold. Also, inside the wrapping is some kind of paper/faux leather tape or something that appears to have no purpose other than to look cheap.

The balance of the swords is basically in the middle of each sword, which is unacceptable. These are essentially glorified woodchoppers, or ninja machetes.

The sheath is actually a fairly decent utility item. It slings well, sheathes and unsheathes well. However, the nylon webbing is not very conducive to heavily oiled blades and would likely begin to exude oil after some time.

In short, for $14 and change, these swords are extremely durable, have a relatively nice sheath, and can hold an edge after some sharpening. Four stars because I like the purchase I made.

Under $15 makes these swords super steal. Mine arrived flawlessly coated and razor sharp. So it's not the best steel and the scabbard is poo for carrying and usefulness, but THESE ARE $15 swords. I have knives I have paid 10x that for (RAT, Benchmade, etc). These are not combat weapons, maybe they could make trainers if you do some work on the handle. I got these for my sons ninja costume (I dulled the blades) and they are great. I'll then add them to my Zombie kit (with the tomahawks, throwing stars, spikes and knives), you just can't have to many swords. These are nice enough and with some elbow grease; making a Kydex scabbard and rewrapping the tang, you could have a fun set of light To's.

It's a good buy and an even better price the strap isn't to great as soon as I got it, it took an entire 15 min for it to fall off but I went to walmart and remade the thing to how I would use it because when u try and remove the longer one it get caught a lil and for it to come out smoothly the smaller one has to be out but this is an easy fix with the right tools I ut a second strap on it so it is close to the body and so it's not loose and I removed the button and put a magnetic strap it's faster to get to this way but overall it's great hope this helps thanx

Just got the blade on my birthday(thanks to fast shipping). All in all it is a pretty blade. Feels nice in my hand and doesnt feel awkward to use. However, when I got the blade I was disappointed to see that the Kanji depicted in picture 3 and picture 4 was not on the blade. I have plenty of weapons like this and some are specifically for use, but this blade was purchased for decoration and display. The Kanji for me was the selling point of the blade and I am curious as to why mine had none. All in all, I am happy with the purchase regardless of the Kanji. Though I do have to clean the blade as it seems to have some strange streaks running down it. It is worth the low price they sell it for.

Thin punched metal blade. If you intend to hack things up in the yard this is great for the money. If you intend to cut through real brush or have any illusions that this is a real "sword"....this product is not for you.

The twin blade set was as many of the other reviews said, pretty cheap.. not only would they not sharpened with a previous blade set sharpener i bought a while back, when i took off the wrappings for the grip there was just 2 little pieces of wood for the handles. the small blade was solid, but the big blade had a chunk taken out of it, which you can see they scavaged throwing knives out of the metal. all in all besides the fact that unless you are just wacking down bushes and things they arent true weapons. they would be great for props and things but the tanto blades cant get any sharper then maybe the point of a med. size pen point.
