An informative, age appropriate bridge into Michigan's past.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Traders in Time: A Dream-Quest Adventure (Hardcover)
My fourth grade class read this book along with studying about the early people of Michigan. The story proved priceless in terms of authentic learning by putting the expository nature of textbooks into a delightful narrative. The students were intreagued by the "chase" (you'll have to read it), and were able to relate to the main characters Nick and Chris. A must for teachers and students learning about the transition of Michigan land from the Three Fires (Chippewa, Ottawa, and Potawatomi), French, British, to eventually American control.

This book holds appeal for school groups ages 3 - 12. I know, I am a teacher and I and many of my colleagues have used this book with great success in our classrooms. The author writes a wonderful story which blends fascinating fact with a story line to hold her audience. Due to the fact that many adults do not know much about this era of history, the story is a great read for the older audience, too.

Traders in Time: A Must Read Book!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Traders in Time: A Dream-Quest Adventure (Paperback)
Traders in Time takes place when the fur traders and Indians roamed the land in Michigan. I can't tell you everything, but here's my favorite part. Chris bumps into a tree, and it sends him back in time to an evil fur trader room, with two evil fur traders named Red Devil and Greyeyes. Greyeyes and Red Devil capture Chris. Chris' friend, Nick, has to save him so he goes back in time too and he meets two Indians named Leclair and Maggie. They help Nick save Chris from the evil fur traders. So you have to read the book to find out how Chris and Nick get back home again before their mom comes home from the grocery store!

Traders IN Time A review by Olivea Cooper
I read Traders In Time by Janie Lynnn Panagopoulos. I liked this book very much. I would recommend that people read this book. It is about Chris,Nick,LeClaire and Meggie. Chris and Nick were racing each other in the woods. Chris fell in a hole and the next thing he knew both Chris and Nick went back in time. They went back to the late 1700's in Michigan near Fort Mackinac. During a time when fur trading was a way of life. Chris was kidnaped by two evil men Gray Eyes and McDogal. Nick makes friends with LeClaire and Meggie two indians who try to help Nick find Chris. This book was suspensful and full of adventure in the wilderness. I learned that they used bear greese to keep their hands from blistering on long canoe trips. Traveling was slow and dangerous. They traveled by foot or boat. Eventually Nick and his friends found Chris. Just in time I might add as Gray Eyes and McDogal were getting ready to sell Chris into slavery. Want to know more you are going to have toread the book.

I've taught fourth grade for years...and living in Michigan, French traders and history are part of the curriculum. This book has been a favorite of mine, and my students, for along time. Clean, wholesome, with just enough danger and mystery to keep kids' attention. And historically accurate! If you have a third or fourth grader, or happen to teach Michigan history to young children, I HIGHLY recommend this book. *Also a favorite: this author's book, "Journey Back to Lumberjack Camp."

My granddaughter has been reading this book for her 4th grade class. I picked it up and had her read parts of it to me. I was immediately fascinated by the premise and entire story line to the point that I could barely put the book down. It is a great read even for grandparents!

An Adventure Through Time!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Traders in Time: A Dream-Quest Adventure (Hardcover)
If you like adventure, this is the book for you! Imagine yourself trapped within a dense forest with fur traders in the year 1796! That is what happened to 8 year old Nick and 12 year old Chris. It all started that sunny summer day on the shores of Lake Michigan when Nick was hit with a tree branch. When he awoke he found himself talking to Meggie and LeClaire who help Chris escape from an evil fur trader by the name of McDougal and escort the brothers to an Ottawa Indian camp, where Nick reveals his dream about a turtle shaped rock that helps to take the Indian's fear of the Americans away, and then on to Mackinac Island there they find a priest who tries to help them return home. Will they make it?
I would love to tell you but you'll have to read this book yourself to find out!

Must Read If You Like Adventures,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Traders in Time: A Dream-Quest Adventure (Paperback)
In my English class we had to read a book, then write a letter to the author and I chose Traders In Time by Janie Lynn Panagopoulos. There are some things I like, but I'm only going to tell you a couple of them. One thing that I like is that the two boys Nick and Chris go back in time to the Fur Trader and Indian days. Another thing that I like is when Nick meets Maggie and her partner Leclair. The last thing I like about this book is the lesson they teach you. I would recomand this book to other people who like Dream-Quest Adventures.
