5.0 out of 5 stars DoF's most brutal album!, January 18, 2002

This DoF's most brutal and sickest effort! Even though it lacks the technical stuff they showed after Inbreeding the Anthrpophagi, this album shreds most of the other deathgrind albums out there! The remastered version has a better, clearer sound quality, and since the original version isn't available anymore, just get this slab of brutality right now and punish your ears!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cuts trendy metalcore into pieces, July 3, 2007

Deeds of Flesh, undeniable masters of brutal death metal. Heavily influenced by Suffocation, Deeds of Flesh take all the interesting hooks of Napalm Death and mash it together with Effigy of Forgotten era Suffocation. And it works. Riffs heavy enough to cause internal bleeding, vocals not heard since Cause of Death, and drumming that would make Hoglan gealous (ok, thats really far flung, but you get the idea).

If you ever hear an emo kid talk about how br00tal Heaven Shall Burn or Between the Buried and Me are, play this in their faces, and watch as they liquify from the inside out.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Of The Most Intense Metal Releases Ever, January 2, 2003

Deeds of the Flesh's 'Trading Pieces' is the kind of difinitive album that flawlessly defines the death metal genre. The sick and disturbing atmosphere that is created within this album is amazing. Immediately when you put this record into the C.D. player you can feel yourself begin engulfed into a strangely beautiful sea of brutality. Deeds of the Flesh is truly one of the most brutal bands on the planet, and this album proves that beyond a shadow of a doubt. The recording itself is raw and allows the pure emotion that the album portrays to bleed through and be heard by all those whom listen to it. Vocally it is perfection, how can somebody scream like that!? Truly majestic. Musically - incase I have not stresses this fact enough - it is brutality at its finest. With one of the greatest drummers of all time and some of the heaviest playing ever recorded, 'Trading Pieces' shines through the metal scene. The opener, "Carniverous Ways", right away gives the honest impression of how this band really is; loud, hard, and true. Also, it contains one of my favorite riffs of all time. The best track on the album is also the closer (not including the bonus track) "Blasted". This is Deeds of the Flesh at their strongest, heaviest, and most brutal. Until Necrosphere released 'Revived', I considered 'Trading Pieces' to be the most brutal album ever. And I'll be damned if I don't still considerate it one of the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most brutal albums out there, December 11, 2002
This review is from: Trading Pieces (Audio CD)
Although this isn't Deeds of Flesh's best album this is definitely their most brutal album (I haven't heard Gradually Melted yet, however). After this album Deeds of Flesh toned down the brutality a little bit and started focusing on mixing technicality with brutality, but still keeping it very brutal. On this album they sound a lot like Mortician, Brodequin, and Devourment, which means all out brutal as hell death metal. If you're gonna complain about technicality or talent, don't bother with this album. This is for the sick death metal freaks out there who don't care about anything but all out brutality and this album delivers 100% in that aspect. I personally prefer, Inbreeding the Anthrophagia over this, but this has that CD beat in brutality easily.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best "Deeds" album hands down, March 28, 2008

Believe it or not, I saw these guys along with Dying Fetus when they played in my friends basement in Brighton, Michigan sometime in the late 90's. I never liked the later albums that I heard, they all seemed to lack something that "Trading Pieces" always had..relentless brutality all the way through. This is a gem of 90's American death metal and you do yourself a diservice to not give it a listen if you're into metal. This is as good as it gets and will always carry fond memories for me.
