5.0 out of 5 stars Remarkable historical & emotional music, May 12, 2007
This review is from: The Musical Tradition of the Jewish Reform Congregation In Berlin, Historical Recordings (1928-1930) (Audio CD)
I first heard part of this music in the early 1990s on a religious programme of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation when Rabbi John Levi of Melbourne presented it with its historical background for the very first time. Dr Schildberger had been a tremendous musical influence in Melbourne. I purchased a tape from the ABC and hoped for CDs but never tracked them down until via Amazon a few months ago. The beautifully presented discs with informative booklet are giving me great pleasure. Any lover of church music would be thrilled to hear these voices from a period of world history--before Berlin was known for disasterous reasons.
