A real virile man!,
By Em Knowell (England, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Tradition of Pride: Mississippi (Janet Dailey Americana) (Paperback)
Lara, the heroine of this story is a married woman. She is a beautiful redhead who presents a cold, hard exterior to the rest of the world. She does this as a defense mechanism. This is as a result of her discovering, soon after her honeymoon, that her husband was cheating on her, and that he had no intention of stopping his philandering ways. The couple live on her family's ranch, with her father. Sadly, when Lara confided in her father he was quite unsympathetic. To make matters worse, the family tradition is to never get divorced, hence the title "A Tradition of Pride". The hero of the tale is the newly arrived manager of the ranch, Rans. And he's a REAL man, with masculine virility and arrogance in equal measures. His arrogance sparks off severe hostilities between himself and Lara. Despite her beauty, he's not impressed by what he perceives to be the cold-as-ice Lara. In fact, he takes it as a personal challenge to break through her marble facade. Needless to say the chemistry between them is electric, and there are some aggressive confrontations that are VERY sexy! As can be expected, when it comes to Janet Dailey, this is a well-resolved love story, so it all works out in the end. I cannot recommend it enough!
