In crafting the sound of Quantic and his Combo Bárbaro, Holland felt it was imperative to have the core stable of musicians in the same room, creating an organic dialogue between them - a simple rule which, in an age of drum machines, samples and voice correction, is all too often overlooked. People will be instinctively drawn time and again to revisit the music made in this traditional, substantial way, undoubtedly because strange, unexpected things take place, musicians improvise and exciting musical statements are made, and this was the environment needed for the recording of `Tradition In Transition'. The result is a multi-cultural patchwork - a record bathed but not exclusively rooted in Colombian musical culture, embracing the musical range of all the American continent - honouring and utilising its contributors' individual backgrounds while conjuring up a unique brand of contemporary music that is a joy and a celebration to listen to, and a live experience that defies comparison.

A Laid Back Summer Delight,

I've always been a fan of Quantic's funk infused work but sometimes felt that some of his earlier albums started to get repetitive. Not with this one; Tradition in Transition is an exciting, lively, genre-hopping treat from beginning to end. If you like what you've heard from the track samples, definitely pick this one up. You're in for a treat!

WOW! this is a great album and compilation. This is a true blend of latin influenced musical gems with a jazz undertone. My favorites are Undelivered Letter, Canto a mi Tierra and Linda Morena. This will rapidly become one of 2009z top selling and influential collections, it is a breakthru album for Quantic and his Combo Barbaro! must get this....

This is an excellent recording. Every song is great, I like: Undelivered Letter, Linda Morena and Canto a mi Tierra the best. Classy jazzy sounds with Latin and African undertones. Very rich and melodic, this is destined to become a classic! - Some songs are eclectic and sound very good in all regards and aspects. - I would also recommend: Mocky and Mayer Hawthorne and The County - Mocky's best is Saskamodie, his new album and Mayer Hawthorne's album debuts August 3rd ! - these are excellent recordings - alike The Whitest Boy Alive
