5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Addition To Your Christmas Collection
At the price asked you cannot go wrong with this album from MCA Records. In addition to the 1947 version of Bing's White Christmas [a Billboard charted hit for 20 different seasons], it contains the very hard-to-find Silent Night recorded in 1949 by Sister Rosetta Tharpe with Rosette Gospel Singers, and which made it to # 6 R&B that December. Another in that category is...

3.0 out of 5 stars Traditional Christmas Classics
The album was advertised by The Music Store as being NEW AND SEALED.
The album arrived with a cellophane wraper but there was no seal.
The CD appears to be ok but I can't verify that it's NEW?

In addition to the 1947 version of Bing's White Christmas [a Billboard charted hit for 20 different seasons], it contains the very hard-to-find Silent Night recorded in 1949 by Sister Rosetta Tharpe with Rosette Gospel Singers, and which made it to # 6 R&B that December. Another in that category is Louis Armstrong's 1955 single Christmas In New Orleans, and Billy Vaughn's 1958 rendition of Joy To The World.

All the selections are delightful and sure to conjure up fond memories of Christmases past. There are no liner notes, although there is a listing of each selection showing when it was recorded and released, including single and/or album numbers.

Recommended.

I tried to purchase this as a replacement for my old, scratched copy but it was out of stock. We love the music on this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, December 17, 2004
This review is from: Traditional Christmas Classics (Audio CD)
I have been collecting Christmas CDs for several years. This CD, however, is still the best of all of them even though it is one of the first I acquired. I keep hoping to find another which will be just as good, but have not yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars A bargain at thrice the price, December 8, 2010
This review is from: Traditional Christmas Classics (Audio CD)
The twelve songs on this album are the cream of the crop of traditional Christmas music -- true classics. I bought my CD twelve years ago and it is still my favorite. I remember looking at the selections -- White Christmas, Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer, The Little Drummer Boy, Christmas Song -- and by then I was sold.

5.0 out of 5 stars Damn near perfect!, December 15, 2009

I bought this CD a good decade or so ago, and I still haven't found another holiday collection to beat it. A wonderful mix of classics from the 40's and 50's. Judy Garland's somber "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" and Sister Rosetta Tharpe's soulful "Silent Night" are highlights. A real bargain and a must-have for all lovers of Christmas music!

I totally agree with Liz. This is one of my favorites even though it was one of my first. I bought it at a grocery store, I believe, because I was living in my own apartment and didn't have any music since I left my parents house. I LOVE Mel Tormes version of The Christmas Song and it's my preferred version over all others. It's a live version which I also like.
