Biography

JOE on JOE

As far as where I’m at with my new music and my new label, Red Bow, this is more than a new chapter. It’s a new book. My #1 single “Sunny And 75” is getting as great a reception as anything I’ve ever done, and the album it comes from is something I might have hoped I could do at other points in my career, but have been held back from. I'm not a big fan of Christmas music- I know, it sounds so strange, but I'm not. But this album is just phenomenal and makes me want to curl up by a garland-covered fireplace mantle, fire a-blazing, and drink hot cocoa and wrap presents. It's sensational; from a non-Christmas music fan, this is big news. :)

No new songs -- these are all oldies and classics like "Let It Snow," "Silent Night" and "I'll Be Home For Christmas" -- but it's a darn fine performance. Nichols is at his Merle Haggard-y best, and the arrangements are pretty down to earth. If you want a country Christmas record that actually sounds country, give this one a spin. It's pretty good.

It's not often that you find a Christmas CD that you can listen to all the way through without skipping songs, but this one you can. Every song is fabulous! Even though these are all classics (no new songs), Joe Nichols puts his unique stamp on each one making the songs come alive and seem new. His rich, honest vocals are so beautiful and easy on the ears. I think "Oh Holy Night" is my favorite song on the album. If you're a fan of traditional country and want a beautiful Christmas album, you won't be disappointed in this one!

I was surprised to find that Joe Nichols was releasing a Christmas album. Isn't it a bit early? Does he really have enough of a following to justify this outing? Now, having listened to the album, I see that he doesn't need to have a following; this music justifies itself, and with any luck it will sell itself, too. Very good, very down-home, very listenable. I'm impressed.

This is my favorite Christmas album a true classic that people will still be listening to many years from now. The arrangements are amazing and wonderfully compliment Joe's beautiful voice. Nothing is over the top just beautiful in its simplicity and every song is well done. My son regularly requests "Toy, Truck, Trains" before he sleeps. Thanks to everyone who contributed to make this music.
