4.0 out of 5 stars Great intro to the Dominican Kitchen
I wish I would have paid better attention when my mother was cooking. This book is a great refresher. It does not have 1,000 recipes but if you can master the ones in this book you will have thorough knowledge of the Dominican kichen.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not traditional Dominician Cooking.
I brought this book to help me out a little bit and not bother my mother in law for all her recipes. When I received it I asked her to take a look at it and she said this book was no good.

I looked at it before I gave it to her and noticed the way she makes the beans is not the way beans are made.

Everyone has their method of cooking, this...

For the life of me, as a second generation American, I can't get my way through a similar recipe book in Spanish. This book was chock full of recipes my Mom made for me and now my husband and I make at home. I liked it so much, I gave it as a gift to my sister and her husband. It's a small cookbook. There are so many recipes I think were missing that were probably culturally more Puerto Rican or Cuban staples but became Dominican-American staples in the New York neighborhood where I grew up.

Everyone has their method of cooking, this book was not for me. I wish there where more options in the market to buy.
