The desk arrived very well packaged. The left and right sides are separate and are screwed together on each side of the drawer. The desktop is then screwed into place. The piece is substantial, the finish beautiful, though a sticker was placed on the finish that has taken some time to remove. I think it was meant to go underneath the cabinet and placed on the cabinet itself. Construction was easy enough for this 50 year old woman to do it with help only positioning the top.
The desk only has one cable management outlet, so getting power into the left side is an issue. Also, hiding the cables for the monitor and the speakers that sit on top of the desk was a problem. The one hole for cables was only to get the keyboard and mouse attached in the drawer. The drawer is not wide enough to house the keyboard and mouse side by side, but you can pull the mouse forward and type with the keyboard set back a bit. I resolved the issue of the cable management by getting desk grommets from Lowe's and drilling one hole in the top center of the desk and one in the bottom of the left cabinet. I can store a power strip in the cabinet, running its cable out through the bottom hole. My lamp, speakers, and monitor all feed through the desktop grommet into the original hole in the side of the left cabinet.
This is a beautiful addition to my office and since I needed a keyboard tray to alleviate tendonitis, I think it will work very well in the long run. My husband's concern was the heat that may build up in the computer compartment. I'll have to keep an eye on that.

I received this desk with the color being almost black, bumps in the top from poor manufacturing, the left door did not fit even though we redid hinge holes, there was a big gap between the door and frame. Totally poor quality in detail, workmanship ,manufacturing. Made in china. (wonder how old their workers are) I also ordered 6 chairs from Coaster and every one had a manufacturing default, like part of the arm had broke off during manufacturing and the GLUED in back on painted over it and sent it off to the customer. The whole Coaster company has gone to china and not returned with quality merchandise. Beware of purchasing any Coaster product!

The desk was not properly sanded before the finish was put on it. There is no possibility the rough spots could have been missed so apparently the finished was put over the blemishes knowingly. Also, the finish is a plain dark brown, not cherry. Opening the drawers I found not just a little dust but dirt and wood shavings, something that couldn't have collected on the shelf awaiting purchase; another quality control failure. Finally, one of the drawer fronts was glued improperly and sticks out at an unsightly angle. The only way to resolve this problem is to somehow remove the drawer front without damaging it and reattach it properly. Not sure how to go about this, I'm not a woodworker. Why would a business market a product with such obvious fundamental flaws? I am not happy with the drawer handles either, the only word for them is cheap. But they can be replaced. I found a set of attractive amber glass drawer handles on Amazon that will greatly improve the appearance of the desk. As another customer remarked, the keyboard shelf is too small and the mouse cannot be set by its side. The packaging was excellent as another customer remarked. There are a few small spots where the stain was inadvertently not apllied, and several slightly damaged edges that clearly got bumped before packaging. Regarding the bolts which attach the desktop to the body, I was only able to attach the front ones, it was impossible to attach the ones to the rear. Finally, the esthetics of the design--the reason I bought the desk--were not a disappointment and this is why I like it and consider the purchase worthwhile. Be aware unless you make special arrangements, the package will be dropped off curbside and it is very heavy!

I just received and assembled this desk. My first complaint is that the finish looks nothing like the finish in the photo. It's a much darker brown, without all the gorgeous grain that is shown in the photo. Instead of cherry, it looks more like mahogany, but not as nice. Why not as nice?
Because it is shoddily built. There is glue coming out of creases, drill holes don't line up as they should, the drawers are built on flimsy wooden rails, and there are dents in the crappy veneer.
If you do ignore my advice and buy this desk, be prepared for the fact that it comes with no assembly instructions, and there is a trick to assembling it correctly... a trick I learned after multiple attempts. You need to assemble it upside down... and you also need to figure out how to take out the drawers without banging them up more than they are already banged up.
