Concise and very useful,

I found this book to the most concise and useful book on the subject that I have read to date. It is a must read for beginners and intermediate climbers alike. It focuses your attention on things one might consider to be mundane until the consequences of the neglect of these subjects are explained in the book. My only critiscm is that the illustrations could be more clear otherwise a brilliant book!

Entertaining to read and well-illustrated. The author has worked hard to try to drive home the basics of safety and straight-thinking that are essential for safe trad climbing. I would recommend this book to anyone who already sport climbs but has been reluctant to trad climb because of the perceived risk involved.
