Pour 8 oz. freshly boiled water over a tea bag in a ceramic cup. Cover cup and steep 10-15 minutes. Coats the stomach too! (Aids digestion),

The slippery elm and licorice in this tea -- possibly along with the other herbs -- stimulate the stomach to produce its own mucosal lining, helping to prevent irritation from digestive acids. It also seems to counteract the acid itself, when drunk after a meal; but, for me, it definitely works best when taken 20-30 minutes before eating. If you have low stomach acid and/or under-production of stomach lining (due to hypothyroidism, for instance), I highly recommend you try this product. After all, it's hard to live well if you can hardly eat or sleep!

throughout the summer, my throat gets increasingly dry and irritated from being in air conditioning all the time. cough drops just don't do the job but throat coat does. it's incredibly soothing to drink and leaves my throat feeling like it's back to normal. the flavor is unobtrusively herbal but slightly sweet because it contains licorice. i'm usually a licorice hater but throat coat doesn't set off my gag reflex. in fact, i really enjoy it.
