Beautiful quilts inside!, March 29, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Traditional Quilts From Around The World: 18 Easy Patchwork Quilting And Appliqu Projects To Make By Machine (Paperback)
This is one of my favorite quilt books, and a great book ifyou're just getting started. Each pattern is introduced with a fullpage description of the pattern's history and photos of antique/vintage quilts as well as a photo of a new quilt made using the instructions in the book.
The designs offered are beautiful and the directions are easy to follow. I used this book to make my first quilt and I had almost zero sewing experience beforehand. I selected the Irish Chain pattern and the method used in the instructions was strip quilting. The patterns range from easy to moderately advanced.
I was also pleased to see that the fabrics used in the new quilts gave them a classic and timeless look (not like some patterns/books I've seen where the fabrics are hideous). All photos are in color which is helpful for beginners who are new to selecting fabrics, and judging contrast.
