Product Description
Mala Beads are a Buddhist tool of meditation. They are moved in rhythm with the breath and mantra of the meditation. The action of moving the beads keeps sleep and distraction at bay and incorporates more of the whole body in the meditation. Each time the mantra is repeated, the fingers move to the next bead. The mala is meant to focus the mind and promote clear thought about the meaning of the mantra as it is chanted. Schools of thought, from India, to Tibet, to China recommend different ways of holding and counting Mala beads, but these are mostly local idiosyncrasies. However each meditation should encompass the full cycle of beads. Longer meditations should include additional full cycles, starting at the summit and circling around again to the beginning. Reorient offers sandalwood Mala beads from Guangdong province in China. Each string has 108 beads.

The mala beads that I received are lightly engraved with buddhist symbols (like the wrist malas sold by Reorient). I did not expect this feature because it was not mentioned. The quality is excellent and better than mala beads that I considered buying at local yoga studios.

These Mala beads are VERY large, very beautiful and very sustantial. They distinctly smell of sandalwood. The beads I received were not individually carved. When i first opened them, the scent of sandal wood was overwhelming - almost medicinal, but, after talking with the vendor, I left them out of the plastic bag and now, the scent is just beautiful. I deliberated a long time about buying them and am sorry I waited so long.

I brought so mamy item of mala bread,this one is the best one with good price. worth five star!!!
trust me,I brought six mala bread,some also have high price,but this one is worth the picture that they show us,and pirce is worth! __ truth!
