4.0 out of 5 stars Good for Beginner Tatter, October 14, 2000
This review is from: Traditional Tatting Patterns (Dover Needlework) (Paperback)
As a beginner tatter myself, I found a lot of designs that I was able to tat in this book. Most of the designs need only one tatting shuttle and a ball. This book is good for beginners to get used to tatting .

5.0 out of 5 stars A favorite among the Dover tatting books,, November 14, 2000
This review is from: Traditional Tatting Patterns (Dover Needlework) (Paperback)
this volume has a wide variety of patterns for tatters of all skill levels. Traditional Tatting Patterns features one of my favorite doily patterns (Party-Time Doily), as well as the Pretty Petal Doily and the Fairy Tale Doily. There are also a number of beautiful edgings that are mostly different that what you see in other tatting books, along with baby designs (bonnet, booties, bib edging), a collar, luncheon sets and a cute tatted alphabet. If you're looking for an inexpensive book with a nice range of patterns, this is the book for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely book of tatting patterns, January 7, 2006
This review is from: Traditional Tatting Patterns (Dover Needlework) (Paperback)
This is a book of reprints of patterns from the late 1940s. The patterns are written in longhand with no diagrams but are accompanied by reasonably clear photographs of each item.

There is a wide range of patterns to work including two lovely tablecloths, camisoles, baby wear, a range of doilies and luncheon sets and a collection of pretty edgings. You might want to change the picot layout in some of the edgings as they are rather smothered in picots with no thought for their effect on the finished design. There is also an attractive tatted alphabet.

Although many of the pieces are quite large when finished, the book will provide most workers with many hours of tatting pleasure. It represents good value for money with a wide range of patterns and techniques, though you might want to use a post it note or sticky note to help keep track as the print is quite small and the instructions are run together into paragraphs rather than printed on separate lines.

I can recommend this book to anyone who wants a nice collection of tatting patterns.
