This set of 4 porcelain rice bowls uses children, chrysanthemum flowers and Chinese characters as decorative elements. The design theme can be traced to the Ming Dynasty. The bowls were produced in the mid 1970s soon after the cultural revolution. Each bowl has four characters, which together translate as "Riches and Long Life." Paired with the purple chrysanthemums and young boys the theme becomes a wish for prosperity for many generations. These are beautiful addition to your dinner table and make a thoughtful gift to friends and family, especially for Chinese New Year, anniversaries and birthdays. The bowls are food and dishwasher safe. Due to a gold metallic glaze on the rim they are not suitable for microwave ovens. Made of strong durable porcelain and perfect for a bowl of rice or soup. Chinese rice bowls are traditionally made to fit comfortably in the palm of the hand but the size also makes them ideal for salsa and dips or small portions for children. You can also use the bowls for decorative occasions like floating flowers or burning incense.

I received the rice bowls the quickest of all the things in the order. I beleive it was less than a week from when I placed the order. The bowls are exactly what I expected them to be and I use them all the time and not just for rice. I use them for dip, for snacks, for whatever I need a small bowl for. They're great.
