5.0 out of 5 stars A Story of a Life and a Time That Will Never Be Again, July 15, 2000
By
This is the life story of a man who lived a life that few would-be animal lovers could only dream of living. His minute observations of the various animals that he came to know very well during his life, ranged from birds and rabbits, to a wolf-killing pet dog (really!) . This man lived with all these animals and developed insights into the very reasons they do what they do. His temperament and abilities ranged from being a fairly good artist on one hand, to being at the opposite extreme, probably the greatest trapper/hunter who ever lived. The reader of this book will (if they get nothing else out of this) learn or understand more about the wild animals and domesticated animals of the world that we live with. And some that no one will ever live with again. Since this is an old book that retells a life lived almost a century ago, this book is about a way of life or survival that does not exist now. This book is real. Not a ficticious idea of what things are or the way things happen. I read this book originally 30 years ago, and still remember it vividly today.
